I tested the Mic 2 from the Pocket 3 Creator Combo (before the whole package was released), and the quality of the Bluetooth connection with a non-DJI device was very different compared to what was recorded internally or in the Pocket 3. It would be great if you could do a comparison now that the receiver is available, by connecting it to your computer and then doing a recording with a direct BT connection to the same device.

I really appreciate the range test especially for someone who does weddings and needs to know how well a wireless mic can handle distance and wireless interference.

I'm using both DJI 2 mic and Rode Wireless Go 2 Pro and to my ears, the DJI 2 has much better audio - speech is a lot more intelligible and requires less editing to get the best results :)

I bought the DJI pocket 3 without the combo when it came out and I’m glad I waited for the stand alone Mic 2. It has extra features that the one that came in the combo didn’t have. I think that it’s the perfect companion for the pocket 3 cause now two people can have a mic and it’s more discreet while filming in public. Where I live people will kick you out of a place if you have a camera.

I finally got to get the mic 2. When i ordered the pocket 3 only the basic boxed model was readily available. Thanks for making this video. Do you have a video on how to pair two mic 2s to the pocket 3?

Pretty sure you can’t. One mic only. You would need to use the receiver as well.

@FlytPath can you elaborate on if using the lightning connector with an iphone 14 or lower, does it still record mono like the DJI Mic 1 without an elaborate setup of cables and such? That would be great if the Mic 2 would allow recording in stereo with just plugging the receiver itself into the iphone. Much appreciate Aldryn, keep up the great work!!

I don’t know why all the reviewers rave about it. It can come in handy, but it cannot be adjusted and affects your voice. It is far easier and more adjustable to simply use the voice isolation available in most NLE softwares today.

Does noise cancelling work when connected via Bluetooth?

FlyPath, to be able to retrieve the 32 bit float files to a portable device such a phone or tablet, is something I wish DJI can give us. I wonder if you have access to suggest this to them. Nowadays many people edit on the fly and post videos straight from their portable devices without the need of a computer. Not sure if a 32 float file is a limitation on cell phones. I wonder if DJI can make this happen via the Mimo app or a different app per say. I can only dream for now. Please keep those Mic 2 and tips videos coming. 👍

Both wireless lavs sound great & the noise reduction is impressive. Why only comparisons outside? Why not in the office? Your shot gun(?) mic was very echoey. I'd expect both wireless lavs to do a better job of limiting the audio to your voice rather than reflections. How about a comparison with one of the many more affordable wireless lavs? I have a Fulaim X5.

a few questions. 1. Can 32-bit sound be recorded into the camera? via a transmitter. when using Rode? When using DJi mic v2? 2. If I use the same lavalier microphone, will the Rode have an audio advantage? 3. Does noise canceling work with the lavalier microphone? ps. The noise canceling is the part to sell me, both sound quality without it were about the same with it on DJI

As I understand, the 32bit float is only available with internal recording straight onto the transmitter and not onto your camera. So, to use the 32bit, you will need to download it from the transmitter and then edit and sink it with your video in post. So yes you will get 32bit float with only the transmitter.

We shoot our Beer 🍺 Vlogs in bars with music playing. Have you tested noise reduction in that kind of environment? Can it suppress the songs ? Or does it also destroy the speaking voice on your worn mic ? Any chance you have tested (or can test) and report noise reduction in that kind of environment? Also, does DJI have plans to allow the internal 32bit float recording to work when used as a Bluetooth mic. I know it wasn’t working in Bluetooth mode. But do they have plans to fix that ? DJI 2 - Frequency response - only 50 Hz - 20 kHz Rode better with 20 Hz - 20 kHz nuff said if you want the best sound quality you need rode mics

In case you guys didn't hear him say it 10 times, you don't have to buy the creator combo to get the dji mics!

A mile away test is useless dude, go behind a car or put people between mic and receiver otherwise it's useless info

The lav mic screw in feature of the Rode can’t be underestimated. It’s one of two reasons I upgraded from the Rode WGII to the Rode WP. Shame that DJI doesn’t have it. Especially because the bold white logo on the mic capsule is obnoxious and screams for a lav mic to be used. The Rode also has two settings of high pass settings to reduce wind noise etc. So if all else is equal, I’m happy I purchased the Rode WP.

0:35 - on the words "be", "D", and "two" there's a whistle-tone coming through the mic. I've heard this throughout the video too but only coming from the DJI Mic 2. Curtis Judd made a video mentioning this issue is being fixed by a new firmware update. I'm not the only one hearing this right?

This is the second video comparison of these 2 mics that I’ve seen. To me the Rode sounds fuller while the DJI seems a bit compressed.

As a sound engineer I like Rode better than DJI because it sounds natural but DJI have more features that I can’t deny.
