We were able to test out the DJI Goggles and were blown away by the capabilities of this technology, so we wanted to share our thoughts and what we liked the most about them.
Our rating: 9 out of 10
What we enjoyed about the DJI Goggles:
Comfort-
Although bigger than the Mavic Pro, they didn’t feel bulky or big;
They fit whether your noggin is small or large;
They fit high on the forehead and lower on the back of the head;
The DJI Goggles are breathable;
Fit well over all glasses;
The screens are adjustable to your eye distance;
Optics-
Two screens on their optics carry almost double the resolution than a single screen design.
You can see crisp detail-almost forget you’re looking through goggles.
Latency is not a limiting factor with Ocusync technology while wearing the goggles.
You don’t experience “stuttering” or pixelation of the image.
Latency is 110 milliseconds from the Mavic to the goggles.
The screens have an 85 degree field of view.
Sync bypasses controller so it’s a direct sync to the goggles.
Menu-
You can use the goggles to access the menus by the track pad on the side of the goggles and a few key buttons underneath.
You can use your remote to control the goggles with a toggle and function buttons
You can can fly the Mavic Pro FPV with the goggles
All of the displays that you would get on your phone screen is inside the goggles
Head tracking capabilities: 1) gimbal works separately from flight controls to view surroundings and 2) use it to move the Mavic itself
Two screens can link to the same Mavic to watch at the same time.
Compatible with multiple drones
Mavic Pro (using Ocusync)
Inspire 2
Phantom 4 Pro
Phantom Pro Plus
Specs-
Cost: $449

    One of the finest reviews by FT in a long time. The chemistry between Josh and Austen is terrific. Mature and informed dialog without some of the craziness that recent videos have had. MORE of the two of you, please!

    Hey guys I was looking at Mavic reviews several months ago and found your channel. I haven't flown RCs or even purchased a Mavic yet but have been hooked on your channel ever since :) I've actually been meaning to write this post for some time just to let you all know I'm super excited about what you guys are doing esp with your emphasis on relationships and families. Not to mention you guys crack me up and my wife is wondering what in the world I'm watching :) I went back the the beginning of Flitetest and watching the earliest and the latest. I've also learned a lot to improve my own KZread channel. I started writing this on the "Mavic Giveaway" Episode but thought it best to pass on my compliment "no strings attached." Love you guys! Keep up the good work!

I have been flying the Phantom 4 Pro now for a couple years and I want to get the Mavic 2 before I go on vaction next January. I got the goggles first just to make sure it's what you say and I LOVE THEM!!! My flying has improved greatly. I can see everything now without fighting the glare on the ipad. The Mavic 2 next ! (I can't wait)

    Great video guys. Well done in every regard. I especially liked the part when you went around that antenna. One issue I would of liked you to cover is how the goggles interface with the Phantom 4 series. I understand you have to use an HDMI cable and several functions you can use with the Mavic, you can't use with the P4 series.

    Hi guys great review. I bought one and i had my first trial just now. I must say it is great yes, a new level of experience. But i am kinda confused between the head camera tracking and head movement/pilot mode. I chose the head camera gimbal tracking but when i turned my head left the drone turned left?? How so? Also there was a time when i wasnt turning my head but the drone was spinning. I was worried so i turned the goggle off and resumed flight with the remote. Is there anyway to reset everything so the goggle and the gimbal is synced straight? When the drone took off i wasnt behind it thats probably why, but i used the center camera command (the very right option when you double down swipe) but it didnt work, any thought? Thanks again great review

    I am not sure if you mentioned this cool feature and I missed it, but for the 'passenger' wearing the other headset, he could have his own cam that also moves independent of the 'driver'. So he would be able to look around for an added sense of freedom. This could be useful for search and rescue also. I know it would mean redesigning the craft, but I would like to see this done.

It seems for me that it is possible to use the googles and your smart phone at the same time. So you are able to see on your controller (with smartphone conected) what the person with the google see (look around and so...)?

    Hi there guys thanks for this review. I want to use these googles with the head track with a second person video guy only to do the video side of the flying, on the Mavic. But the question I have is does the DJI Goggles offer controls to the video and photos, quick change of aperture and start stop of video and photo mode? Also once the goggles are plugged in does it cut out the live feed to your phone for the person flying? Whats your thought, is it worth it in this role?
