Absolutely the best review of the Fpv and its features. Coming from big rc helicopters and a hubsan drone, this thing is mind blowing, the digital fpv view on the V2 goggles after eachine v100 goggles and hubsan transmitter screen is like stepping in to another world. I have flown 600 and 700 size helicopters without electronic stabilization and no flybar, and still I keep this out of manual mode. Don't feel like needing the manual mode just yet, its too fun just to cruise in the air with N and S modes. Feels like very expensive but buy once cry once. The view up there is breathtaking.

I think my experience will be like yours. I fly 700’s down to micros. I just ordered my DJI and it’s coming Wednesday. Your right about crying. I always choke on prices. As you know a 700 is nearly 3k so I guess I should have ordered 2? Lmao. I got fly more kit. I’ve been flying since 05 so I’m a proficient 3d pilot. I’ve never crossed the fpv threshold because I was worried that I wouldn’t want to fly my other stuff. This DJI product looks sweet as hell. I’m gonna love it.

I'm one of those people who has a love / hate relationship with DJI camera drones and keep buying, get bored & sell them on. I love my fpv quads, but will probably buy one of these, if and when I can afford one, to replace whatever camera drone I have at the time. Your review here is excellent and very fair and further steers me toward the ultimate camera drone for me; smooth, cinematic style flights with the added security of DJI systems. It'll never replace my 'normal' fpv quads but would be a great additional tool when at scenic locations. Great video 🙂🙂

  • @metasamsara
    @metasamsara2 жыл бұрын

Love the honest and unfiltered review. I'm still unsure if it's worth it to go the lazy way for my first FPV drone... But at the same time, I love the digital video, but again, it's not very customizable. I want a drone that can do real FPV freestyle but also really good cinematic shots, and the ability to change lens and such for instance upgrading it to have lateral rotation too. I really don't like that it's not modular and repairable DIY for bigger damages. If I destroyed a 1250eur that would be the end of it no second purchase. A DIY drone is just more forgiving, once past the hassle of figuring out how to get started...

I agree 100%! Started flying FPV 1 month ago and baught 2 BetaFPV tiny drones, an iFlight IH2 2 inch freestyle drone with caddx vista and the dji fpv ... And yes - it is an fpv drone - but not exactly what you would expect from an freestyle quad. But i enjoy flying the dji for cinematic smooth high image quality footage - and then kick the ih2 around and do some freestyle tricks. So - no i do not regret buying it - first and foremost because this way i already got the goggles with the kit :) Thanks for the vids ! love your work! Greetings from germany

I just bought this for precisely one of the reasons you have given; I'm hoping it will ease my transition into DIY FPV. I'm very confident with my Mavic, but my performance in Manual mode in the sims has not been great. So, it's perfect for a guy in my situation. And thanks for being fair. I know that there is a ton of words on both sides of this drone, and it might have felt natural to naysay it. So, thanks. And I'll be back for more.

Excellent concise review Ken. I agree that DJI should have included some sort of phone mount for the transmitter. Since the FPV uses OcuSync 3.0 is there a possibility that there could be a firmware update for the Smart Controller that would allow compatibility with the FPV drone as that would be ideal. I am going to purchase the Smart Controller for my new drone aerial photography and videography business here in Toronto Canada, however I do not want to have the same situation occur that I experienced with the DJI Crystal Sky High Brightness monitor. I purchased the 7.85" version for use with my Mavic Pro Platinum and then the Mavic 2 Pro was released using OcuSync 2.0 which the Crystal Sky is not compatible with, fortunately I can use it with my Autel Evo II 8K.

I was thinking because I have to get a new dji anyways this could be a cool way to have a new drone but also when I wanna practice acro flying I would just use the DJI headset with cheaper FPV and a cheaper controller...but unsure if that could be a thing...but though that way I can crash a bunch and as I learn a new move bring it the DJI fpv....nonetheless I really wanna try FPV but the hassle of building has left me on the sideline for years...thanks so much again.

Great content. Thanks. I think your idea about adding a phone support to the remote controller is a great idea for those of us who are not used to FPV drones. What are your thoughts on the $200 optional, one hand controller (forgot what DJI calls it). Finally, coming from Mavic 2, I am not sure how removing the spring-loaded, auto-center feature of the left throttle stick would be. If you remove auto-center what would happen if you let go of the left stick?

Regards DOBO, it is good to point out that if you change to the old protocol to use a traditional fpv drone when you return to the new protocol you will have to bind all the equipment back again

great review, honest and clear... Ive had the best and worst from my dji fpv (in 3 weeks Ive had it) - really enjoyed flying it, been a great intro into fpv, the view in the goggles is fantastic. the best - the 'safety' is excellent, once in M mode , I was flying fairly low, and completely lost video and controller connection behind a hill (my fault!) , thought, Id lost it to the dirt - but 30 seconds later, video reappears and she is returning to home! the worst - a couple of days ago, I was practicing flying close to the ground, going slowly and carefully (3-5 m/s!) , caught the ground ... and broke an arm (so off to DJI she goes) - completely my fault, but still was pretty minor. I think I was unlucky, many times, it may have survived. honestly, its just inconvenient (dji repair is not as bad as some thought $70-100) I hope later we will be able to get spare parts... or have local 3rd party repairs which will help this alot. overall despite the minor crash putting me out of action - I still really like the drone for what it is. also Im excited to see what DJI might do to the firmware, and also where they make go with a v2 or other models of fpv drone.

Thanks for the honest review and big up for dropping the fly safe, fly smart message for pilots. Seen waaay too many videos of new flyers sending it over highways, crowded parks, open water, and city blocks. Also, have to agree about the smart batteries. Not worrying about my house burning down when charging is almost worth the price of admission alone. pricey but cheaper than buying a new house. I gotta say as a new flyer I have found the panic button a really great and useable tool while slowly learning Acro mode. As soon as I get freaked out on the sticks I hit that button and it's all good. I figure once I can fly confidently ill move over to a real fpv drone and it won't just be me crashing all day long and if I do it will hold up better. well, that's the hope anyway.

Great video. I also picked up the dji FPV after taking a 6 year hiatus from drone flying (coming from the early Phantom days) and so much has changed and improved. Question if anyone knows- I remember having to always twirl in circles to calibrate every time flying. I don’t see anything about doing this anymore ok the FPV... is this still a thing or did they fix this requirement to only do if troubleshooting? Thx

I have read somewhere that this is less of a thing now but still recommended. Not sure about this FPV system in particular but it is still a thing for Mavic Air2 for example. I would assume it is for any DJI GPS/Gyro type of drone. People just report not doing it, ever and not doing it does not cause any issues, at all.

@@x1c3x: Many FPV pilots double-protect the start of the motors. So you have to operate 2 switches to start the motors. Since there is no free switch assignment with the DJI Racer, I use the mode switch as a prearm switch as the first switch and the start / stop switch as a second switch for manual mode flight. The motors can only be switched on for manual flights if the mode switch is set to M and then the start / stop switch is pressed twice.

Great Video, I've had my DJI FPV for a couple of weeks, I've noticed that I'm flying the FPV a lot higher, and further with the FPV than with my Mavic 2P, Mini 2, MA2, and P4 v2, I'm guessing this could be because of the Goggles, and having the view of the signal strengths right in your face, although I haven't flown in manual mode yet, I've found Sport Mode to be very good. If anything, this FPV Drone has shown me that I can push the Mavics to their full potentials and not have tom worry so much about losing them over the Bay

Well Said brother. Im waiting for the air unit 2 that'll work with this controller and goggles.......and also a firmware update for a better pid tune, frame rate selection, hopefully better low light, and better stability. Would be super cool to integrate sliders like the onewheel did in their app. It may not give you all the controls but at least let us have some control that's limited within safety reasoning.

Just watched this so late to the party. Coming from a heli background and the crazy things they can do. My thought is, is it the motors underpowered, or is the intelligent battery not giving it the full punch needed compared to a traditional LIPO? Just a thought.

I flew my DJIFPV for the second time today and I felt that shutter that you’re talking about on fast acceleration I think the propellers are very flexible and they’re almost unbalanced for a second while the leading edge of the propeller passes A threshold of speed in the front of the quad into the wind and thereby sets up a wobble . 🤓 😳 🤪👍🏻✨

The second dji releases an air unit with ocusync 3.0 that uses the fpv controller that comes in this kit everything will make more sense. Great video I really agree it's a solid piece of tech that is so much fun. Sure it's not a full hardcore free style drone but it's not meant to be. Again just wait till the next gen air unit that lets you build a hardcore free style drone that uses your controller and goggles. Dji set them selves up for an fpv gold mine with this thing. They showed they made a new protocol that's reliable and amazing on a platform that showed it off well. Now that people are hooked!!! I know I'll be converting every freestyle I have to ocusync 3.0 when available. There's another grand dji SMH
