Pushing the DJI FPV Drone Range to the limit

Ғылым және технология

Since we unboxed this drone with the features it has, we had to know how well it would do at longerish ranges, and we were not disappointed.

As I dive into FPV world, am learning to increasingly appreciate Nurk's videos and focus of work. His vids push the envelope, bridging between practical real world on-set work issues, and pure FPV manic fun. Always some fun experiment presented. Today he used the DJI FPV in accordance with its nature to bring the best out of it. It is a bit of a hybrid, and that's how he understood it and flew it. Super cool creeping around that island! Thanks for presenting.

Awesome! One of the most fun and interesting flights I've seen of late, Nurk. It's amazing seeing the range achievable with the DJI FPV quad. If you can organize doing the one-way range flight, will be a pleasure watching it. Thanks for sharing. Cheers from Montreal, Canada.

Love your coverage on the FPV drone. I just ordered one, used to fly both acro quads and long range 1.3ghz/dragonlink. I got out of the hobby a few years ago because it all became too much to juggle while also focusing on life. This new DJI unit looks like it addresses all my issues while providing 810p into the goggles...pretty amazing for the price, and if it ends up completely lost it's not like I spent 40 hours building and tuning it. Glad your doing in depth coverage as your answering a lot of questions the mainstream reviews don't cover.

That was very interesting and impressive. Might be interesting to do a test where you see how efficient the Drone is at different speeds. for example can you fly more distance at 50 mph then you can at 25 mph, until the battery is down to 50% or 30%.. So what I'm trying to figure out is let's say you have 30% battery left and you're pretty far from home. Are you more likely to make it home if you fly slower or faster?

I’m gonna be “that guy”. 1. I want to see you actually attempt to do some mountain surfing, because I think your gonna be hindered by an altitude limit. 2. The sun kept creating this blue dot in the image, what’s that about? 3. It’s great that it can tell you when to come home but you can’t push it to sacrifice the battery to save the drone. When it decides the parties over it’ll just land... even over water. I’m interested in the dji fpv drone but I think everyone is playing with kid gloves on. There are good qualities and bad I just don’t want to see the good qualities examined and just gloss over the bad. Nurk, in the back of your head you know where the real negatives are, give us the dirty dirt. Only then can we decide if it’s really worth the price. I’ve got nothing against the dji fpv drone I just want the whole truth

Mm, agree with this. All the limitations are bullshit for what it costs, if I'd like to disable all of the safety I should be able to. Let's hope they publish the SDK for this drone like they did for Mavic, Spark, Inspire 2 and a few other of their drones. My Mavic has all of it turned off except return to home with dynamic home point and it's by far a way way better drone without those features. No incorrect altitude limits over obstacles, no battery safety features that cannot be ignored if you have to sacrifice it to save the drone. No incorrect NFZ maps placing invisible walls etc etc.

The blue dot is a small reflection inside the lens. It happens in most cameras when an extremely bright object is within frame. Most phone cameras have that problem.

@@Max-mb2el interesting. I’ve never noticed it in any of my GoPro, air unit, osmo pocket, phone or any other camera I’ve used. I’ve seen some lens light reflection before I just never saw a marble sized blue dot moving around on the image.
