    Great video. I have both as well and agree with your assessment, other than the motion controllers. I've been a stick flyer for 40+ years and actually love the motion controllers. With that said, if you want to do acro we'll then of course sticks. But I'm able to thread a needle with the motion controllers on the AV1 and AV2 at full sport speeds. I love my av1, but gotta say, the av2 is an all around better UAV. I have to wonder what DJI is, or is not planning on a fpv2.

    What about the avata 1 with the axis motors does that fly better than the avata2?

  • @mattalford3932
    @mattalford39322 ай бұрын

    The avata 1 is like 100 times more durable than the avata 2, and that makes it the better choice lol. But the avata 2 has a better transmission system and camera.

    Until you fly them both side by side. Yes, the AV1 can take a slightly better hit, but the av2 out Flys the av1 in every way. I still love my av1, but it's gonna go I think so it's not just sitting. I'd rather someone enjoy it as it's still a great craft.

    It's a tough call. For me the major hangup is the compatibility with the goggles and controller with the Mavic 3.

    I’m gonna hold out too I don’t want another controller sitting around and also having to spend $200 on it. They should release a firmware update to make it compatible with the Avata 2

  • @MrYoungspeeder

    The FPV controller and Motion controller connect to the goggles. The goggles transmit the controller inputs to the drone.. As it’s a new Goggle system, they have had to make motion 3 and FPV 3. The FPV controller 2 can work via the goggles 2 or Integra via firmware. My guess is that it will happen in a couple of months.

  • @maxsteal1982

    Hay Justin How about make a video to target. Why do we need so many controllers? DJI IS NOT being environmentally friendly. You KZreadrs must reach out to DJI to also have the controller 3 compatible with others drones like the Mini 4 and Air 3 Or the RC 2 compatible with the Avata 2. This seems so logical why hasn't DJI done this? It's all O4 so it should just be a software update.

  • @Porculus

    Hey there Justin! Longer sticks available on Amazon combined with softer rates will stop the tumbles. Stock sticks on the FPV Controller 2 are a joke, IMHO. They lengthened the sticks on the FPV Controller 3 by 4 or 5 mm, but they are still not long enough for proper control. But then, the Avata 2 is wider than the Avata 1 so it's more stable on the stock sticks. But the first thing all Avata flyers should do is change those damn gimbal sticks and get longer ones! My first gen Avata doesn't tumble ever, whtn I fly it on longer sticks and with softer control rates. And I fly it hard and fast in acro, doing split S, power loops, flips, and etc. I have been flying FPV for 10 years. I am disappointed by the build construction of the new Avata 2 in comparison to the tank-like first gen Avata. In a durability test, the Avata will outlast the Avata 2 by a huge margin. If you crash the first gen Avata, you can just replace the prop guards or the top cage for cheap (as you already know). Crash the Avata 2 and you're screwed. It's so much more fragile, to keep the weight down. Gotta send it back to DJI for repair which costs big $$ (as you already know). DJI moved away from the modular design of the first Avata and that's a move in the wrong direction for FPV enthusiasts, IMHO. The improved camera is the main selling point for sure. Cheers!

  • @dronecamps

    @dronecamps

    2 ай бұрын

    For sure. I could tell right away it was more similar to the way the DJI mini three and four is constructed with that eggshell thin plastic. This does reduce the weight significantly and improve power to weight ratio for better performance. But it decreases the durability factor and people should be able to have the right to repair.

  • @Porculus

    @Porculus

    @@dronecamps Exactly! I think that DJI realized the first Avata was too durable, lol! And too easy to repair by FPV pilots. That's not good for their repair business profits. The Avata 2 definitely follows the rest of their camera drones ''DJI Care dependency'' for repair. What can you do eh? As smart and practical FPV enthusiasts, it's a wakeup call for us remember to keep buying quads that are built in a modular way, allowing for easy repair and etc. DJI quads have their advantages but they're not a one-stop solution to everything. I love my first gen Avata, but I'm 100% still invested and interested in other DJI O3 equipped quads from GEPRC, Avionrc, Flywoo, Iflight, etc.

    I like the motion controller 2 a lot. I have the raidomster t16s mk2. I have the geprc tiny radio elrs, and the dji rc 2. I bought thr avata for cruising around for more than 4 minutes lol. I might fly it in manual when I want to do a dive. The motion controller is restrictive though. But I hate the fact that with the rc2 in normal mode when I'm pitched forward and try to yaw it adds roll, and that's annoying af lol.

  • @mattalford3932

    I'm in an avata Facebook group. So many people buying the avata 1 or 2 and instantly going full manual. And breaking their drone. I just tell them to buy a tinyhawk freestyle 3 plus hd RTF kit. Learn acro and then decide if you want to acro the 1k dollars plastic whoop lol.
