My test result was very similar. They were very close, but it seemed as if I got slightly more endurance or reliability when the bitrate starts to fall apart. FCC mode was a bit harder to totally loose connection, so I stuck with it, as that's what matters the most to me, having those extra few seconds to react as my connection is starting to disintegrate. And then FCC also increased the speed in manual mode for me from 19 to 25 m/s. It's supposed to be 27 spec-wise, but I just wan't geting that, though others have reported that they did. Love how you flipped the classic range test on it's head and left the drone at home, genius!

Great one, mate. Mads Tech said the same about top speed until someone said about the DJI website specs. Guess it was a mistake on their part but it makes no sense that you can limit in acro mode. I just knock into 2.4ghz mode and leave it at that. Been great so far. Great video, thanks!

I recently got the ole drone tweaks app and what a difference it’s made! Recommend big time. Not tried it on my mini 3 pro yet but the Avata 2 has become a beast

Out the box: EU: 10KM / 42.5MPH limit (CE with C1 restriction) UK: 10KM / 60MPH limit (CE with no class restriction) US: 13KM / 60MPH limit (FCC with no class restriction) The hack makes the speed and range in EU and range in UK the same as US. Speeds are based on full manual mode with the FPV RC3 being used with the Avata 2. The motion 3 controller is limited to sport mode at 36MPH in all regions. Being in the UK your test has answered my questions! I won't be hacking my drone at all as already hit 60MPH+ and yet to lose signal at 2,000' away behind a bush line.

I am in the UK and am considering getting the Avata 2 and the speed was my main concern as I already have a mini 4 pro and the range is perfectly fine but its good to know it isn't speed limited here in the UK as that would really put me off it.

Hey! I have the same combo, mini 3 pro, and avata 2. Love both, but I think the mini has a better signal range

Finally, a range test that doesn't involve just holding the sticks down until the drone loses signal and hoping there's enough left in the battery to get home. Nice one 👍

Yes. I also have the Drone Tweak FCC apps on Avata 2. I did notice the original CE has much clearer image on Goggle 3 and fly slight longer range than Drone Tweak FCC.

I would recommend to run a wifi networks scanner on your phone and you will see the 5.1 band is used a lot, mostly by indoor APs. It is used for a decade. But I would like to know why the drones do not use 5.5-5.7 GHz where it is allowed to use up to 1W/30dBm in EU? Also I have seen a video where it looked like the Avata 2 used around band 3.6GHz. This band is allowed in USA only and totally illegal everywhere else, so is there a danger of transmitting there when switched to FCC mode?

Hi! How can I mirror my Goggles 3 display to my phone (iOS)? Even if I use the Liveview mode (DJI Fly app ) with cable or wi-fi, I can only see the Avata 2 camera image without telemetry data and I can't see the menu when I use it on the Goggles.

Why is it that in the final test in CE mode the altitude is reading -40 feet? Has it gone below where the drone was powered up?

Im in the UK and just ordered one, what mode does it come and whats top speed range on it?

Did you ensure you were on the same frequency for both tests, for a fair comparison?

Andy, I also walked around with drone in my hand will recording on the goggles but I am pretty sure to prevent overheating the 04 transmitter is limited to 25 mw if the blades are not spinning.

How fast can you get the avata 2 without the fcc mod?

Andy when you are walking around with the Motion Controller in your hand you might want to put it in the standby mode if you aren't actually flying. I guess it is not as bad a with the original controller since you now have to put the trigger to have any motion at all.

Yeah it's better now, the motion controller just controls the gimbal until you press the trigger in one section.. Standby mode reduces output power on VTX, I could have armed the motors in manual mode and left it on the floor but I actually wanted to get it as close to what it would be like in real life, hovering in the room of a building 😁

I bet you're just itching to do a Hi-Gain antenna mod ! Headset and Drone Go on Andy! Always good 🎉

But the drone being inside doesn’t affect the gps and therefore the RC signal?

Do you know what difference makes 60, 40, 20 or 10mhz video bandwidth ? wich one is better for long range or penetration? thanks in advance

Just update I did 3miles woth the joy stick with full signal amd cpuld easy go alot more but battery goes pretty quick just made it just back home but it's depends area your in aswell am from the UK eastbourne

I have a question, i am without EU, i bought my Avata 2 here, i assume it's in CE (or C1?) Mode... At the moment i comeback to my country (Venezuela, Latinamerica) should my dron put in FCC Mode automatically? Or should i do it "manually"? Also before to go back to my country i will visit Indonesia, i guess the dron will put automatically in FCC Mode too? Thanks a lot in advance

I think to get fair comparison it would nice to see how Awata 1 preforms in the same conditions. It would show improvements in CE mode (if any) and compare with "orginal" Fcc mode. What you think?

Avata 1 in CE mode used to be terrible, I lost my first Avata 1 becuase of it.

I get 3500ft my signal was still flicking 3-4bars on HD and rc signal am in Eastbourne I could go further

Hi I’m Bob and I’m new here. I need help calibrating the motion controller 2. During the controller calibration process I can’t get the trigger button to full go green for a successful calibration, the mini joystick 100% in all directions. I’m at risk of flyaways and I’m not getting max flight speed because of this issue. Please anyone help! I’m frustrated and about to return my gift and just give up on drones altogether. Any help or insight will be much appreciated.

That sounds strange, are you on the very latest firmware? Not saying it fixes it but if it's a known issue they might have addressed it.

Could you do the same test with the FCC mod + the ham.file unlock? 🙏

I have the HAM file on my goggles SD card, it adds extra channels to FCC mode when combined with FCC mode.

Best guess on the FCC bitrate drop, the big freaking 10m hedge of green between you and the Avata-2 on your right as you return to yourself. You don't fly the same path in CE mode. The worst kind of interference you can have.

It states on drone tweaks that the avata 2 fcc mod only needs installing once and it stays. Just a detail i noticed and yeah untill connected back to official app

My understanding is that in order to meet C1 classification they are limiting the power output in CE, resulting in the lower top speed in manual mode required for the certification. The problem is the power reduction would affect the overall flying experience. What you should test is loops in both CE and FCC mode and see if there is a power difference when you need pull out at the bottom of the roll. Yes, it would be subjective , but if it doesn't subjectively affect the flight experience then who care. I understanding is it does, and quite drastically to the point that the Avata 1 performs better even with it's handling problems. But this is not first hand. Personally, I don't care about range much, I would not be picking this for long range. I don't care that much about top speed, But I do care about handling and if it is power capped, that matters. Hopefully you can do a test of this for us.

ive seen on other tests there is no top speed in manual mode in ce, ive seen people hit 65mph in manual in ce, to my knowledge this only applies to countries in the eu, (speed limit that is)

I don't think the motor power is limited at all, it's just capped at 19 m/s in EU/EASA countries.

Thank you for these vides on this topic. I still havent decided if i should buy avata 2 or not. Main reason is power limit+ CE. If someone could confirm that drone tweaks mod will also work in future and will not be patched, i would get one.

@@andykirby The speed limit is the reason i havent got 1 yet. Im in Estonia. Have you tested CE mode top speed in manual using fpv controller? Manual says 17ms max. Iv seen yours going way faster in other video but that was probably modded to fcc.

thought you could go into FCC mode by putting some text on the SD card

Yes a Ham support text as 0 bites. It has now been added for DJI Avata 2 and the original hack still work for the original Avata. This text file goes into the googles SD card and can be deleted once you’ve activated the drone after implementing the text.

I took mine 1 mile away and back at 60 mph and the signal never dropped below 45 Mbps. using just the ham file

hi Andy. I just wanted to let you know that the max speed of the drone in CE is limited to 70kmph. while the FCC change lets it reach close to 100kmph. The throttle power is also limited in CE mode. I would like fo ryou to test this properly in your next video. Be sure to remove the ham file when testing the CE speed! (another youtuber confirmed the ham file is unlocking the speed, so you are not flying with the CE limitation) otherwise thank you very much for the video

I think he's right you only have no limit on speed because you have the FCC hack installed, not because you are in the UK. Try the test without the ham file​@@andykirby

The question is then...how far will a DJI AVATA 2 fly in a straight line with nothing in the way, CE v FCC ?

@@Technician4444 But that is a battery limitation and nothing to do with the radio transmission signal strength of the drone. RTH can also be cancelled and the signal range is 13KM in FCC and 10KM in CE with no LOS obstruction or interference. If you want to fly back safely you'll probably get out to around 5KM before turning around depending on wind speeds etc draining the battery but you won't lose signal.

I bought the avada 2 and the video glichs really bad right in front of me on 5.8ghz and on 2.4 ghz it wS better but not great I ha e all the dji air unit the old to the new 03 on this avada 2 I horrible on 5.8 ghz.

To me it looks like FCC mode is not achieved at all. I have the Avata1/integras, got the dronetweaks and also ham-file. No difference to CE mode. The ham file only gives more channels, that’s it. On my Avata2/googles3 on the other hand it is a complete different animal. It is night and day difference. I can fly deep into the woods with fcc, whilst CE totally craps out. The ham-file only adds the additional frequencies. It doesn’t boost the output power of the drone. You have no scientific way of knowing if drone tweaks works or not without measuring the drone radio power output. The difference between our setups is that I’m on IOS. (And in an EU country?)

AVATA2 IS make to be fixed by DJI its fragile the busness of fixing is more important for there than selling drone !

Is it got something to do with 5G system ? what kind of tablette or mobile phone did you tried on this video ? are they compatible for 5G ? and if you're have the 5G phone line ? i just ordered an samsung 12 Androîde 5G and pay 34 euros monthly cost a lot more than normal line 3G 4G costed me only 24 euros monthly , i hope i din't pay all that for go litle bit farther is it worth it ?

can you explain me what's the deal with 5G PHONE AND 5G SPECIAL LINE some source told me you need to have a 5G COMBATIBLE PHONE AND 5G on line witch is more expensive than normal 3 or 4G WITCH WILL NOT WORK PROBELY AND THE RANGE WILL BE LIMITATED IN 5G you have the 5G system almost every 300 to 1km you have a antenna 5G SOMEWHERE TO TAKE THE RELAIS OF YOUR DRONE CONTROL AND VIDEO maybe i'm wrong and miss understand the 5G
