There are various performances in different venues they are all great I do like the Sofar small venue in London just her and Toby on the piano , her voice is incredible.💜👣😇

Technically it’s not a Beyonce song. Beyoncé’s version is a cover. The original artist is BC Jean who cowrote the song with Toby Gad who is playing piano in this video. Toby actually co-produced Beyoncé’s version. Beyonce is a great singer and did a very good job but I just didn’t feel her version. It just felt like a regular pop song. To me Angelina definitely brings more feeling and emotion as she usually does. The pairing of Angelina and Toby came about due to Toby’s recently released album called Piano Diaries on which he asked several artists to record new versions with him of past hit songs that he cowrote. He asked Angelina to perform this song. There are several versions that they have done together. A live performance in May at a small LA Club, at an event at The Palladium in London, at the IVORS awards in London, a small club in London, this live performance at St James church and of course the studio version from Toby’s album. There are actually two studio versions with the same vocal track but different instrumentation. Each of the two has a different video. A stripped down version with just piano and strings was shot at this same church. This is a separate video from the live performance you just watched. The other video version, with more contemporary instrumentation, has Angelina walking through the streets of London wearing a hoodie.

Toby Gad(at the piano) chose Angelina to sing this song of his(the other co-writer BC Jean also sang it first without much commercial success. ) as part of his re-imagining of his greatest songs from the past. The album will feature those songs with new( yes, we Angels have know of her long enough to not be new) singers. Angelina and Toby are writing new music, and he says that at least one Bad Valentine will be released in a couple of months. There is a video of Bad Valentine at James Thiel's KZread channel that was released as a preview with Toby's permission. The song quality is very good as well.❤️❤️❤️❤️👣

I have experience Byonce, and Mary J Blige's version, and they don't hold a candle to AJ's version just like ALL the other covers she has done this song now belongs to her.

There is a very good live performance of it on James Thiel's channel. Make sure to use THAT one if you choose to react to the song; the other has poor sound quality. The song will premiére later this summer, but both Angelina and Toby gave James the thumbs up to release his recording. Well I'd heavily disagree right. It's a different story from her, more fitting, better. Stronger. More appealing to empathy in us men IMO. But for sure, not everyone receives stories the same way, or even could. Different folks. Vocals way better, more flavors. When I checked out Beyoncé's I ended up remembering it, but was disappointed, zero storytelling but for the video and lyrics. But hey, maybe I just didn't the story like B did right. Certainly voices and styles are very subjective. 👌 I will say we always compare to what we know, and sometimes, that's on us, but Angie has before had us not comparing within 3 seconds, and on an entirely different journey with a cover. So that can be on the artist as well in ways. Art is a two way street every single time.

Beautiful setting. Acoustics. Whenever AJ sings I feel like she is sharing a God-given gift ... so in that sense a church setting is perfectly appropriate.
