I had no idea about the wax paper thing until now. All these years I thought DJ's were torqueing the platter back and forth against the motor.

Glad to see the art still alive. I remember 1200s with the bright yellow needles - craze back in the late 80s early 90s.

Thank you Lonestar! Do you still have a rig yourself? I started on 1200s myself too :)

Tyler Davis was my favorite sales associate. Always called to just see what was up. I am sad to see him no longer at Sweetwater.

To mix a vocal like artifacts in Art of Scratch, do i need just the original track or the acapelas? In case of snares hitting in the wrong time

You can also scratch on cdjs and controllers similar to using turntables but it ain't nothing like vinyl. I started with belt drive turntables and a Radio Shack mixer. I never used Technics SL 1200s not that I didn't like them it was because I couldn't afford them. Nowadays turntables are more reasonable in price than they was then, although RadioShack DJ gear was semi professional but still amateur. I started out djing way before digital vinyl came into play. I still love old school scratching and mixing techniques

What if you want to scratch with mp3 files? Do you just change the vinyl to a scratch vinyl?

How much does that mess up the records and the cartridge? I really wanna get into scratching but I don't wanna have to buy 3 or 4 of each record nor do I want to buy a handful of $300 cartridges because they only last a certain amount of time.

Number 1 thing is Vinyl, it cost alot of $$ and is extremely addictive. But is a great investment.

Hey Anthony, you can use the control vinyl that comes with the DVS System you are using such as Serato, Rekordbox or Traktor. When you load in the scratch samples it would allow you to scratch those just like any other battle vinyl 🎧
