Autotune will tune your vocals to the nearest perfect note in a given scale so you cant usually go off-key if your settings aren't too low. And if you aren't singing very out of tune

@@cathyxbeats The autotune indeed did not cut off though, you can hear it in the middle. What happened was his autotune was registered to a specific octave and he went to high where it went out of the autotunes range. So yeah the original commenter was right, he did indeed miss the note...

@@Tsnackle False, autotunes feature is to bring your vocals on key. If you are on key, you won't have really any autotune presence. Maybe slight presence because you rarely ever see someone who is pitch perfect with the cents but you have to be slightly off key to have autotune drag your vocals into key for it to work. thats why its called auto tune... it automatically tunes your vocals to the key. If your vocals are already in key, there is nothing to tune.

autotune effectively takes whatever frequency it receives and latches it to the nearest note in the 12 tone temperament. if you whitelist only a specific key, the autotune will shift the frequency it's receiving to the nearest note in said key. to produce an adlib that was as incredibly off key as this one, the autotune would not have been working as intended, or it had been shut off

If they had one of those pre-made tracks you mentioned, this would not have happened unless his sound engineer muted that track but also left the auto-tune running, which is highly unlikely.
