DIY Windshield Washer Fluid Hack

Ойын-сауық

I show you how to make your own windshield washer fluid for pennies that is much better than the watered-down store-bought kind. Uses basic ingredients that you may already have or can use for other purposes around your house. Ingredients: Blue food coloring, Dawn dish soap, ammonia, alcohol and water.

If you don't have amonia, you can use vinegar as a substitute. Vinegar also keeps mineral deposits from clogging the tubes if you're using tap water instead of distilled H2O. Excellent video, btw!

Also to test if it has enough alcohol let the container sit in freezing weather outside over night or for a few days to see if it freezes or not. I put 6-8 oz of alcohol in my gallon. Completely useless and potentially dangerous advice. According to my research, the blue stuff sold as -20 degree F fluid is at least 25% methanol. The -30 stuff is closer to 40%. That tablespoon of alcohol you added is essentially doing nothing. Bottom line, use whatever you want if you live in a warm weather climate. For cold weather, it seems to me that the cheapest option by far is to buy actual washer fluid if you want adequate protection from freezing.
