DIY Vewlix-Style Arcade Cabinet - Part One
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
In this episode, I build yet another arcade machine.
This time, I built a Vewlix-style design. The original design was made by a Japanese company named Taito. This Candy Cab is designed for players to sit down and enjoy playing rather than the standard style of arcade I'm used to.
I tried to list everything used in this video aside from 3/4" MDF. LOL

Because I didn't have enough tools for this build, I just grabbed what I needed from my arsenal. Keep in mind that this collection of tools took years to gather.
That warm beige cote that I was wearing:

That's awesome, man! Thank you!!
Dude, such a polished video and an awesome project! Your command of the tools are impressive, and the overall vision for this thing is amazing. How dare you continue to use the jigsaw for hole cutting though 😂 I expect to see more helmet quick changes in part 2. The world is always a better place when my friend Ron releases content 😊 Thanks for an awesome video bro 😊

Thank you! You'll have to show me what you come up with! Good Luck!
I've been out of the arcade scene for quite a while - yet YT obviously remembered and suggested this to me. I have an old Namco Excellena 2 Candy cab that I stripped, refurbished and repainted a decade ago and running MAME on an old PC. The only issue is that it still has the CRT monitor in it - it works, but one day I'm going to have to work out how to put an LCD in it. Might build a brand new frame out of plywood, much like you have done, that holds the LCD in place, rather than try and modify the plastic frame.

Oh man, Good luck! It's cool that the CRT is still functional!

Really enjoyed this Ron! Looks like you’ve been working on the shop, it looks great! What a machine you are making man, all those bevels!! Outstanding. (I don’t envy all the MDF dust you had to deal with, been there man, so many times!)

Thank you! Yeah, I tried to get a little more organized. Now I have to bevel EVERYTHING. And yes, SO much MDF dust. :-(

There are two plans available. CNC and non-CNC with all the measurements.
Hi CGR, Just bought your DIY-plans. I live in Sweden, here we use metric system. You don’t happen to have the plans in mm? I’m not very sure how to convert inches to mm. I know that you multiply by 25,4 to get mm. But how do i multiply 19 7/8” for example? And for instance 29” in mm = 736,6mm. Very odd measure in mm. I know there’s converters online, but I’m not really sure how to enter 19 7/8” for example. Sorry I’m a bit slow.

What's the footprint of the cabinet? Is it easy to modify for specific hardware/buttons/joysticks/tv?
@CGRTist
2 ай бұрын
Yes, it's super easy to modify the plans to your liking. The footprint is 32" x 25".

@@CGRTist Awesome. Thanks. I’ll grab the CNC plans soon. I work at a cabinet shop and will get a buddy in drafting to help modify it and run it on our CNC machines. Debating using black melamine MDF, but not sure yet. Looking forward to part 2.
Climb cuts on the router table, followed immediately by unsupported material on the fence side of the table saw? Hope your health insurance is comprehensive! Neat project, though!
