I like how you drove the screwdriver through the warranty sticker. ....like a boss!

do you steal have the xbox 360
Thank you! My son bought the game Destiny without seeing the "hard drive" required icon. I bought this hard drive from GameStop, followed your instructions and it worked like a charm!

panthermom111 same!
Thanks for a fantastic "how-to" video...pure focus, clear handling...and silence is a wonderful thing!
Thanks! I just got the Slim. I was able to move my 60GB hard drive from my older 360. Your video was most helpful!
Amazing, this saves so much money. And quirks just as well as a brand new HDD.
Had a white Xbox Elite with a Fujitsu drive and put it into an Xbox 360e. Did everything in the video and worked like a charm! I used weather stripping instead of foam, which has adhesive on one side to help it stay in place. Thanks!
BEST ONE IVE SEEN YET !!!!! good job
yuh r one amazing guy... was just goin thru the paces of having to purchase a larger memory xbox but bcuz of u... i didnt.. followed wat u did and nw battlefield 3 i a sinch.. thnks man
awesome idea. i knew this before but came hear for refreshment on doing it again thanks bro
i give you MUCH respect for this vid man
OMG Thank you so much. My old Elite Disc Drive is breaking down on me and I'm gonna buy a cheap 4GB Slim and do this ! I WILL NOT give up my 4 years on my 250GB Hardrive . Can't wait :)
I thought it was only a rumor but it's true that helps me out in the long run thank you!
Worked perfectly and saved me the money of having to buy the newer version hard drive, thanks!
@shaamRKO Yes the 4GB Slim version has 4GB of Flash memory on the main board, it is not removable and does not occupy the hard drive slot. So when you add a drive, you end up with two memory storage devices, the 4GB and the added hard drive. Hope that helps
Kinda feel better after watching this. Thought the 360 S came with a case for the hard drive. I know it does, but is an add on for a PRICE! Thanks for This!!!
There’s no sound but this video is perfect Thankyou :) from a 4gb Xbox to a 120gb the tape was a genius idea helped lower it into place easier ready to be popped into place
NICE vid man ... clear and to the point ..
That's what the sticky tape tab is for... if you missed that, use a pair of needle nose pliers and cover the metallic tips with a cotton shirt or something to avoid contact between the pliers and circuit board under the drive.
Best tutorial yet, taught me things I wouldn't have even thought about. Great job!
thank you for this video, so I know my old xbox 360 hard drive also will work for the new xbox 360 slim that I bought, thank you very much.I'm Vietnamese, electronics very expensive in my country, so I found this clip very helpful :))
this also works with the 60 Gb hard drive just did it thanks so much for this bro!!!!!
i just got done doing this and its 2016 and it work i really recommend this method
Thanks a lot, it worked on my slim mini with no problems
WHOA!!! I didn't know that you could put a computer Hard drive into a Xbox 360 THXXXXXXXXXXXXXXx
Check the description of this video for a link to a similar video showing you how to use a regular laptop hard drive. Just keep in mind that only certain drives are compatible so make sure to read the notes in that video too for a compatibility list. Thanx.
@shaamRKO You can always slide the 250GB hard drive out and replace it with a larger one. The drives do need to be former XBOX drives or new XBOX drives as they have a custom firmware the XBOX will only accept.
Thanks man! Gunna try this out! Definitely would save me the extra 75 bucks!
@shaamRKO Correct, the 4GB slim uses flash memory and the hard drive slot is empty. Mine was the 4GB slim too, saved me $100 having the old XBOX hard drive from my old system!
your are amazinnnnnnnnnnng , you have save my life for BF3
Saved me a trip to the game store.
@emanuel2442 It's isn't critical, but you'll notice the drive is rather loose and if you plan to bring your XBox around to friends houses or from room to room I would suggest you use something to cussion the drive. I used an old mousepad but you can use a sponge, cardboard or anything similar...
Thank you so much! I almost died when I saw it wouldn't fit, then I saw this video. :)
@LegoFilmKid Yes, you can access both memory devices and copy data from one to another as needed.
@R3DMAU5 you don't, you could cut up a mouse pad or use a piece of foam to use as a shock absorber for the HDD
@Ballmazing It won't overheat, you're only covering the bottom compared to the drive Microsoft sells for the XBOX slim which is completely enclosed. You could even use a folded up paper towel... an old sock :-)
Great tutorial with step by step.. Thanks.
@dom0kun20 No not at all, it's there to stop the drive from moving around. Cardboard or fabric would work too, as long as it's not a conductive material.
Now here i come battlefild 4
thanks a bunch! great video, and well shot!
The drive would be supported by the SATA plug on the main board which can put stress on the connector, specially if you move the XBOX around from time to time, not worth leaving this out, even a piece of cardboard to provide support would suffice.
you sir are a brilliant man!!!!! thank you so much now I don't have to go buy a damn xbox specific HDD, can even get a second hand 120G sata drive.
Great tutorial, very useful.
This guy is the MAN!!! Saved me money and hassle.......niceeeeeeeee!
@AgentCell Torx T-6. You can buy a Husky 6 piece Torx set at Home Depot for $6.
Yes. Moving around the console could easily disconnect it without some sort of pad to keep it still.
I did this before myself but I never thought about using tape and a mouse pad like that.
Sick im hyped on this! I have a ps3 that doesnt work anymore but the hard drive is fine...I am recieving my xbox pretty soon and was wondering if my ps3 20gb hdd would work? I read you need a specific firmware but still just wondering...
Thank you for the vid. Just done it to mine. Saved me slit if money
U SIR, UR A LIFESAVER. THANK YOU.
@ptenoury I've been told Yes, but I have not tried it. Apparently you need a specific drive and need to load specific firmware on it. Might be easier to pick up a used XBOX 360 "fat" hard drive and perform the mod in this video...
@OriginalNoseBleed Yes, it will accept any size drive with the XBOX firmware (from another XBOX)
I really like Tutorials with no voice!
You can use the 2.5 inch drive but it needs to be specific models plus you have to do a few things to mod the firmware so that it will work.
Any of the XBOX drives work. Worst thing I've run into is some existing save data or accounts from previous XBOX may not work on new one, that can happen regardless of the drive size.
I'm getting my new Xbox soon. Yes that what I'am needing the same...
This guy is smart as hell
You shouldn't put foam inside your Xbox. It may heat up or even damage your console.
thanks heaps man just saved me some dollars works straight up that easy
@ICYASIAN95 It's a HDD, the one I ripped out of the original XBOX 360 HDD. You can use any of the original XBOX HDDs of any size, just need to remove them from the housing.
@Nev6999 Yes absolutely, it will work with any size hard drive from a previous XBOX setup.
yes....as long as it is SATA drive...no warranty lost...evr is fine
works like a champ thanks!
@l33tpete Correct, google "XBOX hard drive firmware" and you'll find tutorials on doing just that. I have never tried it however. I believe it has to be a Western Digital Scorpio drive...
You can. You have to have 8 gigs free to "Install" the game since it's sooooo big. Kind of like installing a game on the PC, you'll still need the disc to play. Or you can just buy a USB Flash drive
Thanks man I just open my old Xbox up and just got to remove the it
thank you, you just saved me so much money
Thanks a bunch bro it works
Oh I agree with you. Third party and aftermarket parts are always, typically, cheaper. This is true with almost any thing. Take for example, the radiator on my car, through the dealership it would have cost me 3 times as much to buy the aftermarket equivalent. In addition, Microsoft will guarantee that their products will work with their stuff, but will not make the same promise for aftermarket products. Hence, your extra dollars pay for the warranty.
Didnt use the tape, just bought a case from china for 00.01 with free shipping via ebay, fit right in and worked great, upgraded to a 320Gb
I did this with a 20gb old hdd I had thanks!!!
Would I be able to do this with a 20gb, 60gb, or 120gb xbox 360 hard drive? Great vid btw
The hard drive case for this size drive is sold very cheap. Do not use the work around seen here. The slim HD case will ensure it will not move or vibrate.
If I'm not mistaken, the slot is actually on the bottom of the console.
No, no heat issues at all
Thanks bro this helped:)
@kphoenix96 You must have T5 and T6 screw drivers to remote the HDD from the xbox 360 fat casing.
Yeah that's the thing microsoft and the game outlets don't mention that nearly 7 gig is reserved for system memory caught me out years ago when they 1st released it. On a 20 gig HDD you will only ever get 13. something in total as we have all now found out lol
@gbales84 I think it's your TV. I had the same problem and I don't think it's your console or HDD. Check if you have warranty because the TV is going to get worse.
i love xbob's.. i really do. *read your description bro*
They're both slims. You can swap the drives with no worries or hassle.
your camera is awesome!!!!
instead of using the foam/cardboard/mousemat idea, you could just buy a harddrive case off eBay - it makes the 2.5" HDD that you are fitting here into the correct size for the new slim 360's.My mate bought one and it works perfectly...no more dodgy looking foam in your xbox ;)
It fits all right
No, Microsoft uses a specific model and firmware...
ohk sweet, thanks for letting me know :)
@gbales84 It does not sound like anything related to the drive, however you can easily pull it out and try it. Is it doing the same with other games?
the hdd for both origanal 360s and the slim are the same, they just have diffrent cases, i have a 320 gb hdd in my orginal 360.
Will use this
Thanks you! I do it and i save money. From Spain
Works :) i done it with an old 20gig hdd.. From ireland
Nvm i figured it out. Thanks much man i'm in your debt! Literally u saved me alot of money!
Thanks! Was trying to get Battlefield 3 HD content but it doesn't work on the 4gb xbox, took apart my original white xbox hdd (which didn't say what size it was) and now It works and it said I had 13gb free... Weird. Thought I had a 20gb hdd. Oh well, it works!
@TheMohguy or when u upgrade to the new xbox that should come with the new hard drive u use the handy dandy transfer cable
@metaljam101 Nope works just fine if you have the hacked harddrive in there. Make sure you've got some stuffing in there keeping it in tight though. Otherwise the connection won't be reliable. BF3 high def should install fine with the harddrive. If that makes any sense lol.
Will the Xbox still use the save data on the internal flash memory? Because I didn't have an original 360 but I want more memory. So basically will the 360 format it?
good video, I hope it works ^^
I'd imagine pull with fingers, or very lightly use a plyers.
@tuvix72 turns out the xbox was defective right out of the box. Replaced it with another slim xbox a week later and its been doing fine since.
This worked, THANK YOU!!!
