I HAD My XBox since child and on my 21's never thought that this drive was just a normal 2.5" hard drive dude I'll save money to buy one at 7200 rpm to increase my experience

Thank you for this amazing tutorial. Now does it indicate that the 500GB HDD limitation becomes an urban tale? Any specific models of HDD for compatibility？I checked most dealers on Taobao and they only sale WD blue 1TB or 2TB, which means other non-genuine brands or models dont match Xbox 360 ?

Model wise I'm not sure. I'm assuming some community out there likely has a compatibility list. As for drive size, atleast with my rgh system a 1tb drive has been fine.

A late, but RGH is compatible up to 2TB and any drive woruld work.

I have James, i have question regarding the xbox upgrade process, since it has USB ports, can it read games through a SSD?Secondly, are there are constraints on HDD soace?

d'you still get the backwards compatibility mode? back on fat systems 3rd party HDD didn't/couldn't get the emulator

How do you put a solid state an Xbox Slim 360 the e Xbox 360

So this only works with home brew xbox.

here's a question, will this work with an ordinary unmodded 360? i heard people have trouble booting up their 360s when they install new hard drives, especially the ones that are more than 500GB.

Yes and no. A stock 360 will only allow certain (VERY specific) drives to be fully utilized. The RGH mod allows nearly any 2.5in drive (2tB and below) to be used.

I have that exact TV, am playing gta 5 on my 360 slim as I write this

does the xbox needs to be modded? if i put the hard drive in the xbox it does not read it. if i plug it in via usb it sees it? tried two different xbox's

Yes. An unmodded 360 can only read up to 250GB but you can also use up to 2TB external drives.

I got one rgh slim and have loads of 360 game disc. Are all 2 tb WD or seagate hd going to work?

Yes any 2TB works Stick with either 1TB or 2TB

So just checking, you don't need to do anything special, just plop it in there? This works on any system not just modded ones?

I’m sure there’s an answer on here already but is it possible to just put a normal hdd in a normal Xbox 360 not modded and what hard drive do I need to do it this way? I have a lot of western digital hard drives which from what I gather you need.

Max size unmodded is only 250 GB. But, the external size limit is 2 TB and you can have 2 plugged in at once.

Ho there, Im just about to RGH an Xbox 360 phat with falcon and I'm going to do this, but I also read several weeks ago - something about upto a 16TB external drive can be used ??? Now I have a spare 4tb external and was wondering do you know anything about this?

I'm not aware of a new 16tb xbox 360 method however on the ORIGINAL xbox a 16tb solution just arrived when cerbios came out.

Can't get the original 360 to read a 500 gb brand new hard. Any tips? I've tried formatting it as fat 32, but it will only read it as a USB drive when connected to an adaptor, not as a hard drive when connected through the top. :/

You're X360 needs to be hard-modded(RGH/JTAG) as far as I know

Yes.I am running 2tb externals on mine.Mine are the standard seagate ones you find at walmart for like $60 a piece.I run the exact same ones on my Xbox One X and they work great for it as well.What I'm curious about is if it can run a 500gb ssd internally?

Are SSD's also possible for 360?

Yes but I dont feel they give any benefit due to the older bus on the 360 motherboard for the drive. You'll get bottlenecked.

@@AxelStone there's some videos on it, you shave off some seconds off your load times, maybe for some games.. but as OP said, your SSD is not the issue, the actual motherboard and hardware will bottleneck your SSD, i would just put a large-ass HDD and jailbreak your XBox360

I'm doing a Speedrun category on 360 for Destiny which requires an Xbox 360 hard drive to run and it doesn't have support for USB. Using an SSD would help me significantly so I tried taking a 2.5 in SSD and sticking the sata connection together without any sort of caddy and it didn't even recognize my ssd as a storage device. Is this normal or do you think my 360 it's messed up somehow

Wait so if you have a jtagged 360 it can literally format an hdd from the sys menu? SINCE WHEN? I know on a stock Xbox you cannot do that.

Pretty much I cracked the plastic shell open with a tool like a spudger or screwdriver. Don't remember. Inside there's just the normal drive. But be careful cause the plastic can get sharp.

The one I had I believe I just had to apply force and pry it apart. However it was so long ago I don't remember exactly.

Would I need to copy aurora over to the new hard drive?? And what do you mean by internal memory card, do you mean just a USB thumbstick or does the xbox 360 have another internal memory that I'm unaware of?

The xbox 360 E has a internal 4gb flash memory which is separate from the hard drive. If you are running aurora from the old hard drive and not the internal flash memory then yeah it would need to be migrated. However I don't have mine setup like this so prob best to read the aurora guides out there for the process to use.

Yes, but make sure to follow a PS4 tutorial. The website has the updated firmware for when you swap out drives.

External HHD/SSD are usually cheaper. 500 or 1TB would be plenty.

No, the Matt black 360 slims have a built in 4Gb drive for the OS. The piano finish slims have more storage space from the factory.

Please change video TITLE, you have to say it's RGH Modded in the title..It coul be confused for people looking for a guide about upgrading HDD on a Retail console (not modded..).
