Learn how to build your own treadmill. Quickly and economically! Let me know if you require any help😊
Materials:
*140mm x 45mm pine ( 2 x 1300mm) side supports
*140mm x 45mm pine (end support high end)
90mm × 45mm pine (end support low end)
*25mm × 3mm tubing (29 × 630mm) tread material
*22mm bearings (to fit inside tubing)
*70mm × 45mm pine (2 × 1020) handrail uprights
*25mm x 2mm tubing (2 × 800mm) (1 × 765mm) handrail
* 25mm pvc elbow connectors (handrail)
* Drink bottle holder (optional)
Fixings:
*20 x 65mm batten screws (fixing pine together)
*58 × 65mm × 6mm bolts with nuts and washers (fixing tubing to pine side supports)
*116 pop 1/8 pop rivets (into tubing to enable bearing not to move from side to side).

    How much is the total cost? Also, would it work to put a rubberized cover over it more like a treadmill? This would also allow modifications to easily measure distance run.

    It costs $200 to make. Yes, I suppose you could try putting a mat over it but you'd have to find a way that it wouldn't hit the sides as you're running along🤔

    *edit Hi Matt, are your bearings flush/tight within the inner diameter of your tubing? I'm building my skillmill right now and the bearings are a little loose inside the pipes.

    Hi Jonathan! If they are a little loose then try putting some electrical tape around the bearing so it is tight around the tubing. In the movie you'll see that I put pop rivets on each side...This will stop it from hitting sides. Does this help?

    @@MattLees-Nunan Thanks for the swift response. The tubing I have is 1" OD, so I used 1.25" OD fender washers. Unfortunately, they are loose as well since nothing "pushes" them against the pipe openings like your rivets do. I'll think of a solution and try using electrical tape. Keep you posted!

    I run on mine about 3 times a week and haven't had an issue with bearings yet. Are you having trouble with it at the moment?

    I wish KZread would detect when there are vertical and horizontal bars on videos and upscale the video so it isn't only taking up ten percent of the screen.

    Hi, sorry my bad English but I have a doubt, I don't understand the measurements. If the tubes are 25mm and 3mm thick it means that the internal diameter is 19mm (?), How do the bearings fit if they are 22mm?

    Thats really a nice idea to diy that. How does it feel when you run for a longer period of time, 30min+? Ain‘t it pretty harsh on the feet after a while?

    It's actually really good. Not harsh on the feet unless you have really thin shoes.

    Hello, the tubing sits over the bearing and the bearing is connected to the wood panels. Hope this helps🙏

    If you type into Google "pop rivet" or go to your local hardware store, they will point you in the right direction🙂 I suggest 1/8 rivets

    Now a days. I am thinking about it... that how to make a treadmill at home. so Google brings me in your video. apparently, it seems a good idea. My ping is, it is making much noise while running. I think you could reduce the noise by using a rubber grip.

    Can it hold 250 pounds or more really trying to take the weight off. Will it break during time? And how long will it last before breaking. I know these maybe not built for running, walking is good enough for me. Plus if you can build one for Me how much would you charge? Is $$ 300-400ish sounds good enough for you?

    It will hold 250 pounds as long as you follow the correct materials as labelled in the description. I'm not sure how long it would last...it all depends on how much you use it! I don't make and sell sorry, that's why I've created a video so that you can give it a go yourself😊

    @@MattLees-Nunan thank you this video will help. I checked that a project like this for carpenter can charge $200-$600 on a small project and can go even go up to 800 high end. Depends how much you worked on it and how many accessories and light weight adding a motor etc etc. Not bad I was willing to buy one. Don't have time and the tools. Might have to rent it or buy them and return them to get my money back. From the tools.

    It will definitely be strong enough as long as you have thick enough metal tubing. Yep, most certainly you can walk on it👌

    Hi Joe, you'll need to put the 6mm x 70mm bolt through the bearing and tighten the nut on each side of the panel. I hope that makes sense?

    What is the reasoning to make the curve? Will straight one work? Getting a exact curve on both the sides seems challenging

    Yes, it can be challenging but without the curve, you're unable to go as fast!

    It depends on the width of your bearing really.. It's there to stop the bearing from moving in further down the tubing

    Hi bro, the rivets don't go into the bearing itself. They go next to it to act as a stopper so the bearings don't pull through and hit the side timbers😊

    And, how did you mimic the curve on both pieces? Did you use one as a template, or did you measure the start, middle, and end for both and then bend the pipe accordingly

    @@Jais271 I curved the pipe as a template and then measured each one as I went along. You could probably just drill through both pieces at once but I wasn't sure how straight I could drill down, so just took the extra time to be sure!
