forgot to tell you, plastic 1/4 gallon milk jugs make very, VERY, hard ice cubs. store bought ice is full of air it melts real fast meaning you need to replace it fast. hard home made will still be cubes even after your done fishing!! TBCULB HA!!! Well we feel like we are part of the tiny boat club anyway! Old One Legged Joseph T

Michael Lopez, how do you drain the chill box when the ice melts? Thank you sir.

Love the video. Have you ever considered making a portable cooler livewell using this tech? Most DIY builds simply recirculate the water in the cooler & provide some aeration, but I'd LOVE to see one that pulls in cooler lake water from a hose & allows overflow drainage. Ideally, the inlet hose would be long enough to pull from a depth to reach cool water, not just the top where the boat's hull sits.

Dude! Awesome build! You have a serious skill for modding boats. Just wondering the approximate cost of the livewell build? I need to put one in my 76 crestliner trihole thats been gutted and decked for bass fishing.

Instead of using 2 pumps on your live-well, 1 for fill and 1 for re circulation. Would you be able to use 1 pump instead and have a 3 way to the inlet of the pump? Just like you have for the out flow. Also do you have to have to fill hole in the transom or could you put it under the waterline under the out flow drain. I am just asking for opinions, I am planning on doing my own live-well but I want ideas and to do it right the 1st time.

I'd like to know is it expensive or difficult to paint these aluminum boats? I noticed that Matt's is painted black and look awesome!

How about using copper tubing in your chill box? Would cost more, but would be more beneficial too. The copper would hold the temp longer, not requiring as long of a delay for the water to sit in the tubing before going into the livewell. Probably would want to work with Flex tubing and line the outer part of the chill box with the copper tubing.

Seamus Ó Maoilmhichil Liner? It would if touching... Right? Otherwise, in this case, the only aluminum is in the cooler. Live well is plastic. Other Pipes, plastic. And a liner would or may aide in keeping the ice cold.

At what point of the water temperature do you recommend having a chill box? Im in Florida but it does't get as hot here. Im debating on either a chill box or rod locker. What do u think?

How big is the boat you put this in? I'm buying one in the next two weeks, to replace the 12 foot flat bottom I have that has a crack in the front floor. I can't seem to fix it properly, so I'm going to bite the bullet, get a v bottom for my father's day present, and frame it out over the winter, after using it as is this summer. Needing to know just how much you can fit in a 14 footer, or if I'll need to locate a 16'.

Thanks so much, man. Crazy what you’ve packed into such a small boat. How deep are the v bottoms, typically, that you have built?

You need to tell people to like your videos, or maybe I am missing it. FireAnt does that in each closing and reminds me to do it, but yours I may have missed doing that half the time. Maybe add a text overlay when you close to your videos? BTW, I love your videos and I think it is awesome how much mutual respect you and FireAnt have for each other. You guys both seem like you want to teach others and learn from each other. I bet you'd have a long list of clients if you wanted to. I like building things like this, especially if I am going to use it a lot. I love the fact that you can make one of these for less than $6k and make this yourself in the garage.

Michael Lopez - you should get a window shaker A.c. unit for your garage so you're not sweating it out in there working on these boats.

If the water level in the livewell is above the water level outside the boat couldn't you just run an overflow out the side of the boat with a check valve to prevent backflow and just constantly pump fresh water into the well? Just drill the overflow at the height you want the water level to be in the well and turn the fill pump on through a spray bar and that's it.
