Hi Mike awesome modifications to Jon boats you and the tb nation give them the respect they deserve. I don’t ever comment. I’ve noticed some people comment about the foam issue in your modifications. Idk if you know that for every cubic ft of foam (12”x12”x12”) you get 62.38lbs of floatation. I highly recommend A/B foam because it’s USCG approved. If you want to be within the regulations for safety, you have to know the weight of the boat, outboard, and gas, first. Then figure how much gear and people weight is going to be onboard. Then you can put the correct amount of foam (62.38lbs) so if you put 8 cubic ft of foam that’s 499lbs of floatation (8x62.38=499). If you want a boat to pass USCG floatation regulation you get the empty boat no motors, batteries, gas, gear, ext. put it in the shallow water or a pool pull the plug let the boat fill to the top and it has to stay up kind of level for 18 hours without sinking completely. This is how boat companies get capacity weight on the boat and almost all companies over foam the boat knowing most likely average Joe is going to exceed the capacity. All for your tb nation info. Thanks

Actually, in the AUTO position, water is drawn from both the livewell and the transom. It's a mix. When you are on plane, it will "automatically" only draw from the livewell and then return to drawing fresh when off plane.

Hi Mike , I have been watching your Builds and LOVE HOW YOU Have done them . But, I have gotten totally lost on where to start. Can I give you my boat so you can showcase your skills .. I am an older gent that FINALLY have gotten a boat for weekend fishing with my grands.... I not looking for an extensive build . I would be satisfied with whatever you do.. Just something that would STAY AFLOAT for WEEKEND OF FUUN WITH THEM....

All in all, not a bad video. It moves a little quickly in a few spots, but not impossible to follow. It was a bit difficult for me to keep track of where I was looking on the boat. Its hard to tell on a tight shot. Might be better if some of the shots start wider, then zoom in. A couple things I would have changed would have been to use 5200 or 4200 on the fittings instead of silicone (which is not permanent in water); and I would have moved the switches for the livewell somewhere else where water could not slop out and short them out. There are other livewell kits which automatically switch from circulate to recirculate when the boat comes up on plane. Those are nice because one does not have to remember to switch the valve every time one moves, then switch it back after the boat stops. They also have timers so they are set and forget. They come on and off by themselves every few minutes (depending on where one sets it).

“barbed” is how the hoses attache to the fitting. the quick connect is a different example of how the hose attaches to the fitting. barbed doesn’t mean 90. you can have threaded fittings too.

Rather than sealing the voids with a can foam where you don't want the expanding foam escape... use bathroom caulk its probably cheaper and easier to seal the small gaps. might be a bit messy but probably seal better
