    Thanks for your three separate oil / transmission / gear oil change videos. I bought my 2015 Burg 650 last year with 1,500 miles and the previous owner had changed the oil at 600 and before selling it. I changed oil at 3,000 to be safe but did not change the CVT or final gear oil. After watching your videos, I now have all the tools and the oils and plan to change all three this winter so that I can cruise throughout 2023 knowing all the fluids are fresh.

    @yukonjack. I paid $5k cash out the door and drove 10 hours (round trip) with an enclosed trailer to pick it up. I have since changed all fluids including CVT and now have just under 6,000 miles on the odometer. On another thread you'll note I also bought new tires only due to age, but kept the original tires as spares. No regrets at all!

    Thanks for the quick reply, good deal and well worth the drive, sounds like you're very conscientious on the maintenance It all takes a little time and money but the peace of mind is well worth it. If I end up getting one I'm going to look into getting a headlight modulator for getting the attention of the far too many inattentive drivers, Modulators are legal now in all 50 states. Take care bud, ride with pride and keep your head on swivel.✌️

    Good point on the modulator... I did invest in two extra brake lights, one modulates. My LED headlamps are extremely bright but aimed properly as not to blind oncoming cars at night.

    I'll confess I was surprised by the ease of this maintenance chore. Easy is good. Seems like the right channel for me to ask, Store near me has a brand new 2018 Burgman 650 Exec. I've been thinking about one for awhile to do some long range touring. Just interested in thoughts on how the 650 would work for a larger...230 lb. guy taking some rides around America. One up with a top box...gear stowed under seat and maybe a bag strapped to the rear seat. Comfort is a big factor for me and I'm thinking the Burggie would be better than a sport tourer in that regard. Thanks again! Also...seems like Suzuki isn't building a 2019 model. Thought that was odd.

    brookyone sorry it took so long to respond. The Suzuki Bergman is a very comfortable machine and can be set up to your liking. 230 pounds is no problem it has plenty of power. It scoots right along with 650cc. I hope this helps they are great bikes and you can also find used ones in really good shape. But new is always fun. I hope you pull the trigger and ride safe.

    Does Wes drink the oil after you have collected it? So how many mils did you get into it since you were using a graduated syringe. I'm surprised you didn't flush it before replacing your bottom cap.

    Just changed the final drive gear oil, transmission oil and engine oil & filter. Changed the spark plugs & battery the other day. My question is, my 2 1/2 year old grandson was helping me and he moved the 4 bolts that hold the plastic cover on the final drive and I can't find them anywhere! Where can I get 4 bolts or do you know the size of them so I can go to the hardware store to replace them. Thanks for your helpful videos!

    Those crazy grandkids! Got to love them though. I’m not sure I think there a fine thread 10 mm bolt. You can probably find them online through a dealership it might be a little pricey but not too bad I bought hardware for mine and found that if you’re buying small pieces it’s not terribly expensive.

    Hey Larry got a question. I just bought a 2009 650 burg. Does this bike have a final drive belt like the 400 burgman? If it does what is the procedure for checking it, Since I am unfamiliar with the larger burg I'm not sure if I want to start pulling stuff off the rear drive area. thanks for any help.

  • @ManCaveMayhem

    @ManCaveMayhem

    It has final drive gears and a lifetime belt which is very expensive to replace. The clutch is a wet clutch like a motorcycle but it’s centrifugal with small rollers unlike the dry clutch setup on your 400s.

    Some of the "fancier" oil brands like to add color to their oils... it helps make you feel better about paying so much for them.
