DIY Su-57 Felon with Ducted Fan or Pusher Prop : Which One is Better?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

I made this Sukhoi because I already made an F-22 Raptor plans, because I think it would be interesting if I made its rival too which is Sukhoi Su-57 Felon or in Russia known as T-50 PAK FA. This model is not design specifically for neither EDF or pusher prop, I just design the model airfame that can be built with 5-6mm foam board or depron or polyfoam, without any propulsion mounting design. You have to figure out yourself, but you can see on the build video how I install a single 70mm EDF on center between the two exhaust. For this setup I use FMS 12 blades 6S 70mm EDF, with 2.6 kg thrust with 80A ESC and 6S 2200mAh Lipo, I think it's more than enough than the weight itself. I also convert it from EDF to pusher prop using DXW 3536 1200kv brushless motor, 10 inch prop, 50A ESC and 3S 2200 mAh Lipo. Both perform well, while there's some problem in the beginning, you can see it on the build video on KZread.

You know what i like of your videos?, the fact that you show how hard could be sometimes the path from the maiden flight to the final plane configuration. Many channels show just how was build it and then flying flawlessly. So many beginners thought that scratchbuild and fly is very easy, when actually is not. Thanks a lot for this video!

@@richardkan8499 It depends on the brand. I have had some packing tapes go a little bit brittle with age, and others completely unaffected. Funnily enough, the worst for that is the fibreglass-strand-reinforced packing tape. The adhesive they use turns yellow and crystalline with UV exposure, and loses all its stickiness.

Where did you get this numbers? 😂 Amount of jets is classified and unknown. Before 2014 when Russia increased level of security, country produced by 100 different jets per year only for internal usage (and dozens for foreigners). It is public numbers. According to Soviet experience, it means in 2-3 times more produced secretly. So, at least 200 jets per year. From that times Russia increased amount of production. How do we know this? Factories nowadays working in 2 and some even 3 shifts (24/7 non stop). It means production increased in 2-3 times. So, now is produced at least 400 jets per year. New factory for Su-57 launched in 2019. So, according to basic logic, there are at least several dozens or more likely few hundreds of Su-57. You reminded West which year ago told that Russia have cruise missiles only for 1-2 month of usage. Surprise, Russia already used more than West produced for last 20 years and still use almost each day. If you forgot, in Russia all military factories are state owned, country have all resources (from energy to metals) in unlimited amount, it means for Russia weapons de facto cost nothing. And production is limited only by amount of workers. Are you forgot how europeans failed back in 1940s when attacked Russia. They also was sure, in Russia no weapons. Surprise, Russia had and then produced more than entirely huge Europe.

Hi Julius, great job, my congratulations, the pitch problem is because the EDF's thrust is parallel to the flight line, if you look at the real plane the exhaust engines point upwards, note that for example in the F -15 also points upwards, the incidence of the EDF is: if the EDF is below the wing the exhaust points downwards, if the EDF is parallel or above the wing the exhaust points upwards, it is like the incidence of the engines in pusher planes, regards!

The plane keeps diving down can mitigated with thrust vectoring. This can be done by adjusting the direction of the nozzle thrust. This is also the main reason why the real su57 is so manuvarable. If u can add more servos to change the thrust direction, the plane will be much more stable.

You should give it a full thrust vectoring system to give you insane maneuvering and angle of attack like the real life aircraft

Im going to build this out of Correx/Corro-Plas what an awesome plane like all of your projects Julius! So what is the better out of the two pusher propeller or edf? I look forward to seeing many more and hope you do an OV10 Bronco a Rockwell B1B Lancer and maybe a B58 Hustler which seems to be all the rage with a new kit i believe around atm 😎🤘👌👍
