DIY Sawmill Trailer Build & Tutorial (Woodland Mills HM126)

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this video from Collins Country we build a sawmill trailer from scratch for our Woodland Mills HM126 Sawmill. The video includes step by step instructions and a tutorial. The trailer turned out perfect! It is easily transported around our hilly terrain with our ATV. We hope this helps others build their own trailer and save at least $2,000 like we did:) Thanks for watching!

    Thank you, very interesting and useful. A no frills tutor, yet everything we need to know is there, nothing hidden. If I get you and your wife right, you cut the original axle to make it shorter, because it was too long, so that you will have a narrow trailer, and then just put both ends in a straight line and weld it together again. Wow, that is a bold move ! Very comic, by the way, when your wife says: ''Now we've got to put the axles together, so we've got these THINGS ... HAHAHAAAhhh ! ... these THINGS ! ... very funny !... She could not be wrong calling them ... THINGS ! Haaahahahah ! ... I have a good laugh here, but in all respect for both of you, thank you again sir and thanks to your lady too !

    +Yosef Laurent haha. Thanks! Our tutorials are very basic because we are basic people:) Nothing fancy! :) Yes, we had to cut the (unfortunately brand new) axle in half and weld back together. We couldn’t find the length we wanted anywhere… And yes Courtney uses “things” to describe half of what we use to build stuff on the form. It’s hilarious! Glad we made you laugh. We are just normal people having fun while making our dreams come true. Thanks so much for the nice comment. Have a great weekend!!!!!

  • @CollinsCountry

    @CollinsCountry

    2 жыл бұрын

    Hey Carole, Thank you!!!!!! We cannot remember the exact cost of the build without pulling receipts, but it was under $500. The 2 most expensive parts were the one tire we had to buy and the axle from tractor supply- if you can find those 2 items cheaper then you could cut 1/3 of the price out o the build! We did buy the swivel trailer jack from Tractor Supply. I don't recall how much it was but it was just a bolt on jack. We do have Amazon links in the description for the 6 leveling jacks if you need those. Good luck with your build if you build one and let us know if you have anymore questions!

I’m a cheap skate lol but i was really pleasantly surprised how much i like the Bauer 1/2in and 3/4 impacts and the drill so I’ve been buying mostly Bauer stuff lately. The trailer looks great but you may want to think about putting x bracing on eventually if you are going to be pulling it with a truck at any speed I’ve built several trailers and it helps to keep it from flexing on the roads.

    Metal has gone up. Its insane right now. I just got $900 worth of 4 in square tube for $200 for my sawmill trailer. No way I could pay full price at this time.

    But quarter size thickness is a little small when you put a 4 ton tree log upon it to saw

    +Gary Casey Appreciate your expertise with the weight concern. We talked with a metal fabricator friend about this project and he stated that our design would be plenty strong enough for the logs we are using. We don’t have the biggest mill available so our logs won’t be that heavy.

    If you are building this it is perfect but add a tool box and easier saw head locking mech. I have been using big U bolts and it does kind of get annoying. For the trailer build itself it’s great. No issues. Very stable and easy to level.

    @@CollinsCountry I gave them a call to request a blueprint for a trailer dimensions and they directed me to their website (manuals and drawings) that shows only the length and the width of the trailer, there is no specs for jacks spacing, axle and other bars. I wonder if you had a more detailed blueprint or the same posted on their website. Your help is appreciated.

    @@ivanguban7143 no problem. So the prints are fairly vague but should show where the axle and the jacks are located. The prints show the trailer to a specific scaling. You can figure out the scaling based off of size of your printed copy and the few dimensions that are shown on the print. Use a ruler or measuring tool to figure out the scale. Then use it to find the exact measurements of the axle and Jack locations. This method is fairly accurate. It is how I built mine. Don’t hesitate to ask any other questions. Thanks again for watching.
