DIY propane furnace/forge burner - no welding/soldering required

Ғылым және технология

This video shows the process of building a burner that can be used for a furnace or forge to heat up metals.
** Caution **
This propane burner was built using galvanized steel. This steel is coated with a protective layer of zinc that will release poisonous fumes at high temperatures. Please watch the lessons learned video for more information on how to prevent the risk of exposure. A video link will appear at the end of this video or you can click on the link shown below.

I built this exact burner four years ago. Made a large furnace for melting and blacksmithing. Good build!

Your works are wonderful and I am amazed at the small number of subscribers in your channel. I do not see it suitable because of the excellent ideas you offer and easy to design. In general, I thank you for your great effort and your excellent ideas. I wish you more success and progress. I subscribed to your channel and I will follow your previous and subsequent videos, God willing.ENG.Saied

Just made one of these. Mine doesn’t seem to have as much umf to it. By that I mean the flame isn’t as turbulent as the video. Any idea why?

I mean galvanized is fine. After the first fireing it should evaporate all the zinc coatong that's exposed to the heat. Just be careful not to breath the white smoke in when you start the first time and you should be fine. 👍 May as well melt some brass on your first fireing cuz that's going to let off zinc anyway 🤣

Hello, for the piece of copper that says 0.8. How do I find it? What is her name? On which device is it located? Is it possible to dispense with it, by using a 1 mm hole in the screw directly? Thank you very much

Both of you mentioned exactly what I was thinking. This looks completely doable. Last video watched a fella just wack all the brass pieces together with a brocken hammer handel😅

Something wrong at 3:30. That is plainly not a 1/8" tap. Great build.

Belay that. I see now how the tapered NPT taps are bigger than the corresponding SAE taps. A 1/8" x 27 tap is correct to thread the center hole in the plug. On the other hand, the threaded MIG tip was much too small to serve as a nozzle threaded inside the 1/8" nipple. Instead, I drilled a .040" hole (#60 drill) down the center of a 5/16"- 18 brass bolt, cut it 5/8" long, and fit it in the same thread cut inside the 1/8" nipple. I drilled holes and cut threads with drills and taps mounted in the the drill press and lathe to keep everything straight.

Good job bro, curious though as to if you have tried to use an air compressor to force more air in that design with more propane to make it hotter for steel smelting??
