Forge / Furnace turbo gas burner DIY jet propane

Ойын-сауық

how to make a propane burner? Propane torch with 1 "tube, 1-1 / 4 to 2" adapter, M10x90mm bolt, M10 nut, large washer and 0.8mm welding nozzle. All of these can be found inexpensively at a home improvement store.
It is the most efficient and easy to manufacture turbocharged gas burner. It will easily melt aluminum if you need it. Manufacturing takes only half an hour. If you do not have a machine, you can use a smaller diameter adapter and pick up a finished washer.
Tested on gas at 0.5 bar (approx. 7 psi). It can increase the flame by increasing the pressure, but I think this is enough to heat a forge or furnace. I can regulate the propane flow with the pressure regulator between the gas tank and the burner.
Attention! If you have a galvanized burner nozzle like mine in the video, then I recommend that you remove the zinc coating before using this gas burner
Thanks a lot for watching, I hope you liked the video!
Suggestions and comments are welcome.

Good job, I have worked in the R&D at a gas appliance manufacture, many hours spent on gas venturi development, along with orifice design, your design of adjustable orifice location and primary air adjustment is exactly what a good setup needs, advanced orifice design is really only needed if your trying to hit emissions and efficiency targets.

Louisiana folk have been making jet burners forever for crawfish pots . I have one made from 4 inch square tubing that burns so efficient the flame is barely visible . Your concept is cool at any rate .

This is the standard burner that most every blacksmith and smelter uses. Same design that has been around for soooo long. And nothing turbo Bout it. That is a venturi burner.

@@MrNonius I watched a lot of videos how to make a proper gas burner and the most of them aren't that powerful and so simple to build as yours so I agree that your burner is a real deal, could you specify the exact length of the tube, adapters and gap between nozzle and adapter in mm.? because I can't really understand what is added in the description

Thank you for the video, I have watched it numerous times, and made my own version of your turbo burner, with a few tweaks to the design to fit my needs. Mine will be connected to a 100# propane tank. I'll be using it to heat my foundry, though, if I wanted to, I could adapt it for a small forge as well.(currently I use a coal forge) The only issue i have at present is how to connect the propane fitting to my burner. I believe I used a 3/8" bolt hollowed out, with a .035 weld tip as my gas feed. I have no idea what fitting(s) to look for... will probably hit up a hardware store with my bolt/plate and propane regulator hose in-hand to see what I can come up with.... sorry for the rant, thanks again for your inspirational video!!!

I built a burner similar to that (Reil) and had to run gas at 30psi (2bar) melt my iron for casting. I then I added a fan ( a vent fan off of a water heater the building had negative pressure) to it and cut gas pressure to 15 (1 bar) and had the same results in a #16 furnace, it also does quite well in my #60 tilting furnace, in the #60 furnace, once about 1/4 (50Lb) full it starts melting at the rate of 1Lb per min i have only went up to 100Lb in that furnace but is capable of 200Lb.

Interesting. Some suggestons. 1. use a stainless steel reducer for the flame holder; mild steel won't last long. 2. Not everyone has access to a lathe. could you use something like a 1/4" pipe nipple instead of drilling out a bolt? 3. It looks like it works well but i wonder if a gas mixer would help? I used them on my blown forges. Looked sort of like a six petaled flower but with the petals twisted to about 15 degrees off the axis of the tune

You should add a blower motor to the end to force air into it. I used a old air mattress blower and attached a dimmer switch to it so I could control the speed. You just have to dial it in and it increase the temperature drastically.

I used a tee at the top of my burner and added forced air with an electric blower motor. I simply used a tee and a ball valve to control air, all pvc. Forced induction is the only way to forge imo. Naturally aspirated, with or without choke, can never come close to forced induction performance. Also the galvanized fitting will give this person zinc poisoning.
