    Space is fine. People forget, unless your neighbors in your yard, it’s more frustrating trying to look throw the cracks from a distance cause can’t figure out what they’re looking at. Maybe snap a pic from the neighbors fence line to prove that gap isn’t as big as it seems from 4 feet away.

    Do you think these end post will work for DIY free standing balcony privacy panel? My idea is to use a 2x12 lumber laying flat at the bottom as base. The base spans full width of the panel. Both end post will be screwed to the same base. I will make sure there is no room for the base to move. I will also zip tie or metal strap the end post to the balcony railings. That should be sturdy enough, right?

  • @FamilyDIYtv

    @FamilyDIYtv

    Depends on how windy it is in your area. Why not attach directly to the deck ? seems like it would work , could always add more zip ties higher up ... kinda assume you want to take this with you and not go for permanent install... right ?

    How thick is your stamped concrete? Looking into installing a HOFT system on patio pavers, but I’m concerned with the anchors being so deep that they go into the dirt below.

  • @FamilyDIYtv

    @FamilyDIYtv

    2 ай бұрын

    not sure, prob 3-4 inch pour but comparing your paver to my concrete pads is not a fair comparison. Pavers aren't attached to the ground, so unless you have huge pavers, i'm not sure this would work. it's more about leverage, than thickness of the slab you're attaching to. hope that makes sense.

    Can you install these in grass? We have about four feet of snow outside. Do you know how these would hold up?

  • @FamilyDIYtv

    You could install in grass, but ! You would have to first pour concrete pillars, let’s them dry then attach these to that. Little extra work but worth it imo. I might be doing that this summer. Think deck footing…. As for snow, I don’t see issue. Enjoy ! Mike

    @@FamilyDIYtv I’m planning to do a bout 60ft of fence line with this. I’m wondering if I should reinforce the pillars with rebar. Due to frost line I’ll be going 48” deep (10” diameter)

    @@brandanbutler8789 I think it’s a great idea! Rebar is cheap insurance at that point. I’m assuming that will add a small percentage to the overall budget. I’d do it.

    Hi everyone. Buyer beware. I bought these from Home Depot and install them but guess what one and a quarter inch outdoor wood panels does not exist in Home Depot, Lowe’s, JW lumber, and Dixieline lumber. Then how in the world are we going to install these Were the stores that sell them does not carry the wood panels for them. I am in San Diego. Has anyone else running to this issue? I’m stuck. I emailed the company waiting for the response. That’s absolutely ridiculous. My suggestion is find the wood and then buy these posts that only takes 5/4 or one on a quarter inch outdoor panels.
