DIY PPF Installation For 2022+ Tesla Model Y Bumper Without Sensors - TESBROS

Автокөліктер мен көлік құралдары

In this module, Ji covers how to install PPF on your 2022+ Model Y bumper (without sensors). It helps to have a partner help you peel and lay down, but it’s definitely doable alone. Our kits are made from high quality Avery Dennison Supreme Defense film and are rated for up to 10 years.
If you have an older Model Y WITH sensors, check out this install video instead: • DIY PPF Installation G...

    Somehow I missed seeing some trapped water under the PPF before sealing the edges. It appears to be about a half teaspoon. Will it evaporate in the sun over time?

    My brother installs these pre cut covers and charges about $400 to$600 per hour for install. I believe his last job was $1200 in material and 3700 for labor. But he was done in about 3 hours

    Would it be a good idea to wax the area after washing? I suppose the question would apply to PPF prep in general.

  • @tesbros

    @tesbros

    Жыл бұрын

    You should not wax after prep. You want the paint to be in its most original form with no coatings for the ppf to adhere properly. You can ceramic coat after installation.

    Do you have to spray tack solution every were under the film? Or do you just use the tack solution in certain spots

  • @tesbros

    @tesbros

    Жыл бұрын

    You spray slip everywhere under the film to make sure it "slips" around and slides into place, and then use tack when you need to flush out slip solution and "tack" something down. So yes, only for certain spots.

  • @saverioconca6303

    @saverioconca6303

    @@tesbros Thanks for the quick response. Another dumb question. If you’re only using the tack solution around certain spots on the edges does that mean the film has its own tack that eventually sticks to the car ….. what is not clear to me is what makes the film stick if you are not spraying it all with tack solution….

  • @tesbros

    @tesbros

    Жыл бұрын

    Good questions! The film has adhesive that's activated by the solutions and squeegeeing. The tack just gives it that extra stick which is really needed when you’re stretching. With only slip when stretching, it might stay but it doesn’t grab as aggressively.

    About how long would you say it takes to complete this for the bumper? And how long for the whole Model Y?

  • @tesbros

    @tesbros

    Жыл бұрын

    1-2 hours for the bumper. For the front kit (bumper, fenders, mirrors, headlights/foglights, and hood), it'll take 8-12 hours. For the entire Model Y, I would double that time at least. It would take 2-3 days for a full wrap realistically.

    How long after install can you remove the contamination? I just did my hood ppf and it is perfect except for one piece of dust in the middle of the hood.

  • @tesbros

    @tesbros

    Жыл бұрын

    That’s not an ideal location since you would have to remove most of the film to get it out. Honestly, I would leave it if you can live with it since you risk more contamination, bubbles, stretching and glue lines by lifting it up. Especially as I see this message was from 30 min ago, I bet it's pretty tacked down already. The dust spot will dissipate overtime!
