Great job, and proving you don't need any fancy expensive tools to do a great job. I will be making a similar one soon, the only difference I will make is that I will be digging holes and putting the posts into the ground. I plan on making the section above the slide into a sort of house with a roof though. Well done.

Hello. I didnt secure it to the ground. Structure is sitting only on metal plates and plates are there just to prevent from ground moisture to get into construction. Structure by itself is quite heavy and there is not any large area for wind to push. We had here few times wind gusts about 90 km/hour and it is not moving at all. I guess that maybe in areas with tornadoes and huricanes anchoring to the ground is necessary, but in my country we do not have wind stronger than 120km/hour. My friend was building something similar and he used earth screws which is also good because you can adjust height and it is literally screwed to the ground, but in my build I didnt use anything. If it is necessary probably depend on your location. Have a nice day.

Hello. it is paulownia tree. This tree is fast growing with big leaves from the begining and later leaves will be smaller but tree should have nice flowers. There are few different kinds of paulownia so you can google it. Have a nice day.

Hello. Of course wood is natural material and it can bend and twist over time- but it is simply character of natural material. I focus on good quality oil based coating which can penetrate into the wood so it will protect structure from rain.... . I am going to coat it every year to make sure that this playground can survive at least 10 years outside an I am quite confident that it will be ok. If there will be some problem - I will repair it as soon as possible and if there will be problem with main beam for swings- I can simply replace it with new one. So simply said- I am not worried about any problems, because if there will be some problem- I will simply replace or repair what is needed. Have a nice day.

Hi. No I didn´t dig anything. It is sitting by its own weight on the lawn and steel plates with benden corners are just to prevent from water going to the costruction from the ground. It is quite heavy and because there is no any roof or bigger area for wind to push it- it is fine. We do not have any tornadoes here and max speed of wind during storm is about 100km/h so this kind of wind is not strong enough to blow it away. Have a nice day.

How long and what sizes are the supports to make it less wabbley?

Hello. I think supports are about 40centimeters long cutted to the angle. I didn´t want them to be too long as kids would hit them with heads so I did them this small. They are from leftover pieces of 8x8cm = 3,14x3,14inch. Basically it doesn't matter too much on size because even 5x5 centimeters thick supports would be enough. Important is that you need some sort of supports and more supports = better. My friend created something similar an he was using for swing A structure thick wooden boards of 4x12cm and for supports used whatever he has left. Just depend what material you have in your country and what is better for your availability of materials. Have a nice day.

Hello. It is oil for wood which will penetrate and than dry so it is not oily afterwards. I wanted oil because I think that it will be better for long time protection ang hopefully it will not peel off the wood in future. I can send here link but it is in Czech language. Basically you can go to your local hardware shop and ask for oil for wood. Hi. I used a cargo lashing strap which is a heavy-duty strap used to secure cargo during transport. I don´t know how it is exactly called in english, just put to google cargo lashing strap or cargo ratchet strap. They are available in hardware stores.

Screws shear … nails is better … that’s why roof carpenters use nail gun

Hello- It depends. I think that for standard people without air nail gun are screws much better because after using screws your joints are much more stable and screws are not going to unscrew themselves. Joints with nails are worst because when are children playing there is lots of movement of construction and nails are simply not going to hold the joints together. On the other side- if you are going to make roof- nails are good because there is almost no movement and with air gun it is much faster to shoot nails and also on the roof there are needed a lots of nails so they are cheaper. You can´t compare roof and playground and if you were working with nails and screws you will clearly see the difference. Thank you for your comment and have a nice day.
