Heck yeah, I’m going to make a Plague Doctor mask!!

The herbs were to stop the smell they usually put lavender in the beak parts so the decaying bodies didn't make them sick

Erm actually, they did that because they believed bad air was the cause of the plague, not because of the decaying bodies

I was thinking of doing a DIY plague mask, I'll use this tutorial as a basis since I had absolutely no idea how to form the beak shape. PS Don't mention the name of the virus. Apparently, KZread demonetizes videos mentioning it. Just in case.

And then we try and get other people to make their own mask and then we wear it and walk around outside scaring people!!! @-@ (please ignore the last bit I got overly excited)

@@cottonghostart I'm still in the planning stage. Trying to look for materials around the house. I still have like 30 (?) sheets of watercolor paper plus some vellum board but I think I still have an old mask somewhere in our house I can use as the base of the mask (figured it was probably easier). I also have some clay to use as the decor. But it would be nice to make it viral. To lighten things up? DIY plague mask using stuff in the house. I bet the hoarders of art supplies have the advantage. 😂

@@aleahlrb haha agreed.I would've used an actual mask as a base too tbh. And ooohh I don;t know what vellum board is but I actually would prefer a foam board as well because it's way softer than this paper haha.

@@cottonghostart I remember buying foam sheets but I think I already used them for a different project? Oh well. The vellum board is the surface most graphite, lead, pastel, and colored pencil artists use. My little sister used to use colored pencils so I bought some as a gift but she no longer does so now I'm keeping it.

I'm doing this for Halloween and this was the first video I actually found helpful thank you!

I recommend if you want to wear this for full on cosplay to use Eva foam it is sturdy, you can use bevels, and you can heat shape it at the end

These masks are super cool, and you nailed it!

Yup! I'm not in it entirely, but what comes to mind immediately is the tumblr hashtag on plaguecore. You can try there for starters. Plenty of beaked doc content, and from what I've seen the community is super welcoming and wholesome!

Thank you! I believe the wrapping paper I used for the eyes is called cellophane. ^^

How good is the ventilation when wearing it? Is it stuffy or hard to breath in it?

Ventilation is fine for me. Guess I made the "beak" big enough. However it really sounds weird to speak with it haha! So I made holes underneath the "beak".

Oooh that is very interesting! I was told that it was also used to mask away the rotten smells of the dead bodies, which is really a dark fact.

Crystal Quartzx ooh I see, well for me kasi hindi ako mahusay magmix ng turquiose eh fave ko pa nman sya. So ayun. And also yung mga pastel colors dahil madalas ako magkulay ng bright colors so pag gusto ko ng pastel, ginagamit ko nlng yung ready na haha. Medyo tmad ako pagdating sa pagmix ng pastel also in that way I won’t have to use a lot of the whites. Sana hindi magulo sagot ko. 😅

Can you try doing a kindred lamb mask? Plzzzzzzz I did one but I believe you can do a better one lol Mine was out of paper but I'm going to retry with watercolor paper now

That's a good question. The reason why I didn't explain it in the video is because I just winged everything. XD But it was important for me to get the length and the width of my face. And then looked for the center for reference.

I hope I have that kind of paints or what do you called that

I'm glad that this videos helped you out! Also I'm using gouache here and it isn't waterproof so I recommend acrylics instead.
