Actual Life of Black Death Doctors
I Am A Plague Doctor living in Europe during the spread of the Bubonic plague, better known as the Black Death. One of the most frightening diseases in history, the plague infected millions through history, wiping out entire cities, and if you caught it, you were lucky to survive. Plague doctors like myself were some of the first to try and find a cause of the disease, investigating the different mysterious ways we thought it might be contracted and spread, but finding a cure would prove to be a challenge. Watch my story in this original full episode of I Am. This video is based on true real-life events.

Indeed, unless he is *very* lucky, it likely that it won't be long until he himself goes to the Potter's Field.
I have a lot of respect for those doctors. They didn't cure too many people, but they tried and I believed they cared or they wouldn't have risked their own lives like that.

Quite the contrary, much of these plague doctors actually charged fortunes to the towns who hired them to ¨treat¨ the population and much of their daily work was taking notes of the number of infected for demographic purposes because they knew that the only solution for the infected was quarantine and isolation until death claimed them. They did not risked their lives for humanitarian purposes, but for an extra income on terrible times
@clf8965
2 жыл бұрын
@@angeladrianparedescedeno8111 from what I know, it wasn’t a large portion or majority of the doctors that did that. But even so, they were second-rate doctors so of course some would be shady. But I think many of them had good intentions because most of the doctors who were in it for the fortune probably couldn’t handle it or decided it wasn’t worth it because money meant next to nothing when compared to the horrors of willingly exposing themselves to the bubonic plague on a daily basis…at least, that’s what I would assume. And with the high possibility of them dying, what was money or riches really worth? They also led lives of mostly isolation due to being under constant quarantine, I can’t imagine who would want to live like that just for the money. (Edit: Yes, many of them did more death counting and documenting than treating people but many also did what they could and ending up discovering ways to help the victims, such as when later on the doctors began to notice that bursting the boils before symptoms progressed relieved pain and gave the patient better chances of recovery)

The voices, the accents, the perspective shift-- *MORE, PLEEEASE!* :) Definitely a fresh divergence from the usual.
The accent, the animation, the storytelling & how incredibly scary that doctor looked all got me hooked. Odd how everthing seems fine & rich, then the next day, streets are empty, no laughter is heard & no human survives a plague. Now subhanallah.. Venus is now one of the most beautiful places in the world! I pray that we always have good modest doctors with work ethics out there to help & cure us. And not just rob us for the money.. that's not easy to find these days, leaving us uncured.
