DIY Peg Board Under $40.00!?

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

Hey everyone!!!
I hope you enjoy this little tute on how Brady and I made the pegboard for my Craft Room! I spent $10.35 on my raw pegboard, $4.50 for the 1x2" wood pieces, and $6 on the pegboard hooks. Luckily I had the paint, trim and screws already but you can still complete this project for well under $40.00 CAD!!
Here's what you need to make one for your own creative space:
1/4 Sheet of Raw pegboard which is 2 feet by 4 feet (or pre painted pegboard... completely up to you!)
Three 2 foot long pieces of 1x2" Wood
Screws
Level, Measuring Tape, Drill or Screw Driver
Hooks and Pegboard Accessories
Optional Items include:
Painting Supplies (paint, roller, tray, drop cloth, white wood filler)
1 piece of trim
Mitre Box & Hands Saw
Small nails or a nail gun and punch

“It gives you...math!” 😂😂😂 that made me chuckle. It looks very high end! Tip: if you have a Habitat for Humanity ReStore in your area, hit them up for trim and pegboards even. Inventory is hit or miss since it’s all donations, but keep going by and seeing what they may have in stock! I got my 2x4 pegboards for $3 each and I scored 3 of them. Now I’m going to go look for trim!

I like your video. My husband had a large pegboard and I had him cut it to fit one between the upper and lower cabinet in my small sewing room; didn't need anything large. I repainted it white, didn't need a frame although it looks very nice and he gave me all the hooks, etc he had hoarded away - way too much! I like the simplicity of your board and see which hardware you used - mostly the hooks which is mostly what I need to use too. It will come in handy to hang scissors, etc. on as it is right above the counter I will mostly be cutting on.

@@heatherfennell7917 It is a beautiful way to pep up your pegboard! Here is an addendum to my post here 11 months ago! The very week I was painting that pegboard, I came down with a nasty case of Covid, then my husband did so we were both very I’ll at the same time. He ended up in the hospital, but we are all good now. It was a happy gift to feel up to putting up that cheery pegboard after being sick in bed for a couple weeks.

@@TheFoiledPlan , I just installed the white pegboard in my workshop. The coating is some kind of smudge proof plastic, most paint will not hold up as well. Paid $8.98 for a 2 x 4 foot panel in white at Home depot. The wood can be had in already painted white.1 x 2 x 16 for $14.00. I used regular wood at $4.00 per 8 feet. When attaching the wood frame to the wall a drill bit that recesses the heads of the screws was used. The screws are flush with the surface and do not split the wood. This makes the peg board sit flat on the frame. (worth the effort) I went on the HD website to check the price of materials. If I were doing it again my choice would be metal pegboard. The cool part is because the frame on the wall is very well built. I can swap it out for under $30 bucks. You did a great job on the video. The point of the project was "crafting" and making the end product fancy. My wife is into the kind of project you presented. I avoid helping at all costs unless asked. Thank you for the video. : )

I originally left a comment asking questions but got no reply, so I'll answer yours. We ended up buying the white peg board and I bought white primed wood for the back. I used a stud-finder and 4 inch screws and drilled into the studs to mitigate any splitting of wood. Sure seemed like more work then they did, but I can guarantee if I did a pull-up on my wife's installed peg-board, it's not going anywhere! ;-)

I was notified of your original comment before you edited it stating that a child of five could do this. I just want to take a moment to say that once you say things, you cannot take them back, even once you’ve edited them. It takes zero effort to say nothing at all but instead you chose to say something mean which is the first thing I’ve seen as I woke up this morning and will now carry with me all day. I would never think to come over to your channel which I’m sure you work hard on and say anything but nice things. Just some food for thought because it really does hurt when people say negative things. It’s part of the reason I haven’t been able to make a video in over a month. One mean comment is all it takes to really tear someone down.

@@TheFoiledPlan Editing IS taking back. What else is it for? It is true that a child could not have done the mitering (which is why I removed it)- but then you did not either- you got someone else to do it. That's a Y in DIY for a reason... It was not mean, but factual. You bought the pegboard and fittings. You installed it. What part of my post was mean? As it happens, I caught your channel because I have been thinking of making some pegboard myself, and your title starts DIY pegboard. But I intend making the pegboard. i.e. CNC routing out the holes (although I plan to make them slots, in the style of IKEA) and 3D printing all the fitments. That is DIY. I hoped to get some ideas from your video, but of course the title mislead me. That made me slightly more abrupt than I normally post, but then I was mislead. It was never my intent to offend you, but done in the hope that you (and others) would take care in the titling of videos- there is enough click-bait out there without adding to it. It would be great if you tube allowed classification of videos- we could then separate craft and engineering. Making 'nice comments' may massage the ego, but the best use is to either add value to the content or to flag errors or misunderstandings. We are trying to add to the totality of human knowledge and understanding- or at least I am... Please feel free to visit my channel and criticize away. I learn more from one criticism than ten plaudits. If you 'carry it all day' I am sorry, but it says more about you than me.
