    I just made this last weekend! Turned out amazing, great video instructions and execution! I added a few straight and L shaped brackets to hold the main section to the arm rests. Also I added a bottle opener to one of the arms! Thank you for the video and I’ll definitely be checking out the matching chair!

    Im so glad ive finally found a video using 2x3s instead. In the uk 2x4s are double the price of 2x3s, and I want to make a corner version so not very cost effective, but had to be sure 2x3s could still take the weight. Thanks!

    Angela, beautiful work and amazing channel. I am wondering. My wife and I are going to undertake building this couch and matching chair. I am wondering with the Mitre saw you have a link to a 12" saw. Is that necessary or would a 10" do? What is the benefit of having the bigger saw?

  • @AngelaMarieMade

    Thank you so much! I am excited to hear that! For this project, any size miter saw should work! Thank you, Jeff! I think the chair is comfortable, the back cushions we used actually are slightly angled which helps. Adding a slight angle to the build would make the build a little more complex but depending on your skill/comfort level it may be worth a try.

    How are the builds holding up to weather? If you did not have them under a patio cover would you also recommend treating the wood with a sealer after staining?

  • @AngelaMarieMade

    @AngelaMarieMade

    4 жыл бұрын

    I used an exterior stain so I don't think a sealant is necessary even in an uncovered area, but you can add it if you want! I'm currently testing the same exterior stain out on a DIY fence panel I made with 2x4s that I'm leaving outside uncovered to see how well the product works over time.

    I built a chair this weekend and I did it with what tools I had. A circular saw and I got me some saw horses like you suggested and put a table top on it. I strained the wood Forest this time because the couch was a pain to stain! 😁 I don’t have a brad nailer so I used a hammer and nails and I had a hard time with that. It’s better when you have the right tools. But, I’m so proud of myself, even if one of the legs is shorter than the others! 😂😳 My plan is to make another chair this weekend and get me some more tools! The alternative options you provide for cushions none of them are the same or even close to the size of the ones used in the video. Do you have an adjusted cut list for the 24x24 cushions? We are all beginners here, thats why we watch YT so cant just easily adjust the measurements..

    The seat cushions I used were 28.75″ x 28.75″ so for 24" × 24" cushions I would adjust the cuts for the width by the difference of 4.75″ and for the length or middle part by double that, so 9.5″ less for two cushions.

    The frame is super sturdy but she used oversized cushions and it's almost impossible to find cushions in-stock that aren't super expensive at 28" by 28". Consider what cushions you can find and afford when making this and cut the length to match. It would have made more sense to use standard size cushions.

    No, here is a link(affiliate) rstyle.me/+hvI-k1Jn5M1biU_fugY9Kw for the closest in size (28x28) to our cushions (28-3/4x28-3/4). You will need to adjust the length and width to account for the different size cushions but the height will stay the same.

    Wood glue and screws could be used instead and you can fill the screw holes in with wood filler. But, make sure to drill pilot holes and screw slowly to avoid splitting the wood since you will be screwing through the end grain. Also, with using wood glue, it may be easier to assemble the slat boards and the side frames all at the same time. So, lay the boards all out together and then clamp together and attach everything at once.

    Love this idea. However, if you do not have a miter saw and kreg jig, the whole project is going to run you about $300 if not more. Purchased the pocket mini kreg jig and it didn't do what a regular kreg jig does. Dont waste $40 on it either. Also, just a recommendation, use electrical power tools, not battery. Would really love to see a tutorial on how to use the pocket mini jig especially for those who are on a budget and cannot afford $100 for the actual kreg jig and $120 on up for a miter saw

    Thank you for the feedback. Some other viewers who didn't want to buy the kreg jeg were able to complete the project with just screws, and wood glue, but you would still definitely need a miter saw.

    You are very welcome Angela😊 Instead of a miter saw, I just purchased a jig saw for $28 and it did the job lol. When we do the project with just screws, people are gonna need to get 3 1/2 inch wood screws or 4 inch wood screws with a #2 drill bit, otherwise, the 2 1/2 inch screws wont secure it together

    Oh no, no, no - please tell me you don't have 8 Kreg screws supporting human weight on that couch! They may hold for a while but they're eventually going to fail, especially if the people sitting on it are large. It should be doweled at least, ore preferably mortise and tenon joints!
