DIY Mountain Board - How to make
Making a homemade DIY mountain board by bent laminating plywood, scrap metal tub and some 10” tires from Harbor Freight. This isn’t a homesteading or practical project, but it was a ton of fun and a good way to develop my skills further. If you like this project, here are a couple more that you may like that involve laminated wood. The first is a pallet wood axe handle project and the second is making a Curvy Board for my daughter. I hope you guys enjoy and please consider subscribing for future updates about DIY, homesteading and other random projects☺
Here is a link for the pneumatic tires, it's an amazon one and I'll receive a small commission if you buy via the link. But search around and you might find a cheaper source as well:)

I like this. I am currently building this but got confused when I noticed the trucks went up and down but didn't swivel. Then after I watched the vid again, I realized you put them on the kick plates so they move on an angle creating the swivel. Otherwise the thing wouldn't turn. Thanks. Can't wait to finish it.
lucky kids to have such a great father,,, beautifully made board...

Most definitely not. But I understand why you would think that because as you said you don't skateboard. I've been skating for 30 years now as if it this year. I still surf and snowboard even though I am 37 years old. Still skate very a few times a week. I also ride my electric skateboards probably three or four times a week on average and have built a few mountain boards but not like this The boards that I have built are near replica of the BajaBoards. But instead of $6,000 it only cost me about $2,900 because I built all my own battery cells and printed my own ECS's and BMS's. No I'm not trying to like belittle this guy because I think it's cool that he built this And it is by far more than most men of these days can do so I commend him for trying. But in regards to being a safe or comfortable board to ride at any high speeds whatsoever is in an accurate assumption. Anything over about 17 mph on that thing and you're getting it to territory where you could get seriously hurt on it even if you know what you're doing
Congratulations on your work! I'm Brazilian and I really admire the style of doing it yourself! a big hug
This man can build every thing 🔥
Genius! Congratulations from Argentina! Is very cool!

You did a great job on nailing the side to side steering it still looked like the springs were not strong enough would you tell me the compression strength of the springs I would have used 60 80 pound springs I weigh around 200 lbs

Thanks Chris! It was a super fun project and the trucks were actually the thing I was worried about. Wish I saw this sooner!!! Love your truck design!!!!
Love the build, currently building one of my own. I even have the same Harbour Freight wheels. Question what size threaded rod did you use to mount these and is there a commercial one available? Cause I don't own a welder. Or is it possible for you to build and sell it to me?
@homesteadonomics
7 жыл бұрын
Thanks for checking it out Jadea... I believe it was 5/8" rod. that's what the bore size is listed as on the HF site. Unfortunately I don't sell these things as most are just one of a kind projects that I do for fun. But if you can find a buddy who has access to a welder it's not that hard to make. I'm not a very good welder... so it can definitely be done. As for commercial rods... I'm not sure if they are or aren't available Anyways, hope that helps a little:) Joe
