// ABOUT THIS VIDEO
This is a modular DIY Murphy Dog Bed. As Woodworking goes, you can keep this project pretty simple. The hardest part, by far, is the case of drawers - get rid of that and it's a true beginner woodworking project.

    I have the same problem and use the same solution with threaded inserts (regardless of ply or solid wood). Something I've been meaning to try is using bits meant for drilling in metal as I've found they tend to make a slightly larger hole.

    The way to get threaded inserts and plywood to play nice - drill shank-sized holes, flood w thin CA glue then use a tap and thread the holes. Repeat. After the second flood/tap it is as solid as threading delryn nylon or similar.

    The home made one I have set up perfectly to make 90 degree cross cuts. The Rockler one I use to make angled cross cuts. In this case 45. You can use it to make 90 degree cross cuts obviously...and it even has a little set screw to help dial it back in without too much fuss.

    Chris, a question not related to this build but a couple of the cabinets you have done, how do you deal with the scoring left by the dado cutter before glue up when you cut your half laps? I just bought a dado cutter, I'm a beginner, and I'm getting the grooves similar to yours.

  • @Foureyes.Furniture

    @Foureyes.Furniture

    6 жыл бұрын

    In the beginning I would try to sand them and clean them up. Then I found that caused more problems. Now I don't do anything, and there are never any issues. If you set it up nicely, you end up with a clean looking joint, even if there are groves in there prior to glue up.

    Will J I've thought the same. So I came back to the animation and I've paused the video when open. It does lie flat. It doesn't seem to be because the final position frame is too quick. It should have more time showing it fully opened.
