    Hi. Great work on your boat. How deep do you think the poles work effectively? I run a 16' jon boat with a trolling motor in amongst the cypress trees on the lake I live on. Trying to fish and raise and lower an anchor gets really tedious and the breeze blows the boat around too much to just drift. We are generally in 6 to 10 feet of water. Thanks

    For adding strength to that pvc the fiberglass poles for fishing wire through walls take a few pieces and tape them together to fill up the inside of the pvc pipe then epoxy them in place the will still allow for flex but but make the pvc pipe more ridged for durability in a stronger current

    You can take a little flex out of the poles by temporarily capping them off and filling them with expanding foam. The mix and pour kind…..not the spray. Mix and pour just a bit at a time until it is full…….or it may mess up your pvc tube. Adds about 15 to 20 percent more stiffness……

    If you are fishing in a river with motherly fast moving water use cotton rope because nylon stretches. If the anchor gets hung it can and will sink your boat in a matter of seconds. If you are fishing fast water keep a knife real close just in case you need it! Been There and Done That! Just wanted you to know that and not do what I did. DT Ephesians 3:20

    Heavy stainless steel wire bent into an eyelet, twisted around a few times, shoved inside of a tall soda/beer/energy drink can full of cement, then allowed to dry. Add clothes rope tied to the eyelet or to a disconnect clasp. Repeat as desired. Throw, or slide, cement anchors down in the water. Fish.

    A little more detail on how they work. For instance how do you raise and lower them. The control end of the project. I get showing the boxes and pullies part with the PVC pipe and all, but you showed absolutely nothing on how you make them work! Would love to make a set for my boat. Okay I have gotten a couple of replies on this. Maybe I should be more clear. Is the PVC pipe weighted or something? Because just the pure weight of a pvc pipe isn't enough to go down and hold the boat in place. Yes he did show all the pullies and the cord you pull to retract them from the down position. But how could PVC pipe alone be enough to hold in place?

  • @dan776

    @dan776

    4 жыл бұрын

    He showed exactly how they work. They function off gravity. You use the pull rope that runs through a series of 3 pulleys and a length of conduit to keep the rope from binding when raising the poles and to lower them. I would imagine to hold them up you tie off your pull rope to a boat cleat which should already be installed on the front of the boat

    How does it get down pressure? Im not seeing the benefit of this over a stick in anchor and a hoop. Pulling that string looks like more trouble than just pushing down a pole. I just went eith a micro power pole. The only reason was the remote anchor feature. Now i can shave 30 seconds off stop to cast routine. Also much more comfortable than running to the bsck and fumbling with that stick it
