DIY Mercury glass with vinegar, water and spray paint. Super easy and under 5 minutes! Great gifts!

DIY Mercury glass with vinegar, water and spray paint. Super easy and under 5 minutes! Great gifts! I have an antique mercury glass mirror that I got for $40 years and years ago and I simply love that look of an old mercury glass piece of goodness! Mercury glass is also referred to as “silver”.
Today I’ll be demonstrating how are you can create your own DIY style of mercury glass as they did back in the day but for a fraction of the cost. Please read on and watch the video.
DISCLAIMER: Throughout this post and video, when mercury glass is mentioned, it is in reference to a faux mercury glass technique. It is not the original way that mercury glass was made a long time ago.
I will be showing you how with just vinegar, water, and a can of Looking Glass how you can make your own mercury style looking glass. It literally takes less than five minutes per project. While you are at it, make a few, so when you need that quick gift, you will have them already made.

Grateful for everyday living on the mountaintop in our transformed log/farmhouse. We offer food from scratch, handmade DIY, old-timey skills and simple living for 2 (not counting the fur babies)!
We still love to do all the things we did when we had a larger family, only in smaller portions. We love to cook, bake (even on a woodstove), make DIY projects including sewing, weaving, home renovations and enjoy everyday living in our log/farmhouse on the mountain-ridge!
We still practice old-timey skills that we introduced to our children as they were growing up and homeschooled almost 3 decades ago. Some of these skills that we, as empty-nesters, are still using: soap making with lye, hand-dipping beeswax candles, dyeing textiles, rendering beef fat into tallow, canning, dehydrating and preserving foods, hand-hewing logs, making homemade natural cleaners, bath soaps and more.

Everything was so beautiful. Im curious to know is it not safe to use them with food items??

They are safe to use with food items as long as the outside is sprayed and not the inside. As you saw, even with my zinnia holder, I sprayed the outside. Not sure even that would have mattered, but I still do not like to spray the inside of the glass. I wouldn't feel safe using any food items in a vessel that had any type of spray paint on the inside. Thanks for watching, and the kind comment :)

Hit the drop arrow to the right under the description for more, the links will be below. Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment. If you can’t find the link I’m sure WalMart carries it. It’s not with the regular spray paint, it’s usually an isle over with the specialty spray paints. Or a craft store may have it.
