The most underrated video in all the lands.
I really appreciate you drawing on the paper to show what to do first because a lot of tutorials were so messy and only say 'cut like this, cut like that'. Can't really see what's going on. But your instructions were very clear and you showed a wider view. Great video.
It's called bias binding. Thanks for simple and informative tutorial.

Or bias tape
It was really helpful to watch you draw and explain your pattern. Thanks for the great tutorial!
Great tutorial! Pro tip - all the cans of soup and corn in the kitchen are also known as pattern weights. Putting them on your fabric to keep it flat and still whilst cutting really helps. Also, to make those long hems ironing the edges also makes it easier. Like, fold it and iron the hem in, them stitch it up. Make sure you have the right heat setting.
What you added to the edge is called either bias tape or bias binding in English :) Thank you for the tutorial!
I'll most likely do this by hand cuz no one trusts me with a sewing machine

Totally feel the same. Been looking at a few videos and this is the first that really has the right shape.
i've been watching tons of these videos to make a raven (from teen titans) custume, and they are all very complicated to follow, specially for beginners, i was about to give up until i found this video and wow! thank you so much! you are very well spoken and easy to follow, loved the vid
I also believe what you call binding as 'bias' as well in the US ABSOLUTE BEST TUTORIAL I'VE SEEN!! Getting ready to try today.
I've been looking at videos on how to make a cape for over a week. Yours is the best!
Thank you so much! Ive watched so many of these DIY and yours is the only one that has helped me. Very detailed. Not all over the place. Thank you. I really appreciate it. Im a beginner at sewing. This was a huge help for me

This is great especially if you cosplay in winter
You're super cute! Love your video, I'm making capes for me and my husband for fancon next year! Capes are pretty simple but it helps to have someone show you for the small questions. :) TY!
this tutorial is so easy to follow!!!
Omword I'm doing some Ranger's Apprentice cosplay this year and this tutorial is amazing for making my ranger cape. Thanks so much for making this!!!

Wow :0 It's so amazing :0 Good job!!!
Thank you for this!! I need to make three hooded capes for a movie I am making - I will be using ur tutorial for them!! side note: You look like Eren Jaeger from Attack on Titan when u have the green hood on!
Hello there! First thanks for that simple and awesome tutorial. Second, I’m working on a templar knight cosplay and I need a cloak on it. The thing I want to ask, is should I add the neck hole length to the radius, like if the cape is to be 1,50m long, should I add the 40cm long neck hole to that measurement, making the radius approx 2m long?
this is the most understandable video, thank u so much, nd ur so cuuute xD
Thank you for this video, I will be making cloak for sure, that really was helpful
Thank you very much, i am the beginner in the sewing and your tutorial so great 😊
magnifique!! thanks i will try mine!
Thank you for this!! So useful!
I intend on using this for some Hollow Knight themed cloaks! Gonna start with Grimm’s cloak, so I’ll have to do this twice with red and black fabric
Amazing tutorial 🥰

Merci beaucoup. j'adore 😍
what if i want to add something under to do medieval events in the winter?
I love your T-shirt
I made a cloak and hero cape bu the weigh is making the buckle to open on my cape. I dunno what to replace it with. OnO One large one I added tot he cape and it break open if move it. Do you know make the buckles less openable? D;
But you could also use a wide ribbon to cover the seams
what do you do instead of a zig-zag stitch if you sew only by hand? i just started sewing literally last week and don't have access to a sewing machine or anyone irl who knows how to sew
素晴らしいです!欲しい!
Hello, thank you for this great video. I had a question: What fabrics did you use for that cape? I'm sorry if you said it in the sorry video but I can't speak English very well) 😸😸

Gracias.........
Just a heads up- the sewing line is actually called bias tape
I have a question. I know you said 3x1.5 but how do I find the dimensions that would fit me?
The strip of material is called Binding
What kind of fabric did you use?
I've had a bunch of cloth my aunt had hoarded stuffed in my closet for like a year now. Somehow I never considered making a cloak... Also, a question: You have the cloak 1.5 m. Should I crank that number up because I'm a big boi? I'm nearly 2m. Should I measure from my shoulders to the ground or something?
@lightningwing8962
3 жыл бұрын
I wish you luck finding fabric with a width of 2m but generally you want it to be around 10-20cm under your total height so you'd probably want fabric with a width of say 1.8-1.9m if possible and get 3.6-3.8m length, however, this may prove difficult as not a lot of fabric comes in that width. It being 1.5 will probably bring it to about upper shin height. Hope this helped!
Sorry I'm American would that be about 3 or 4 yards of fabric?
love your cape.🥰what is the name of fabric used could u paste link of were u got it. thanks x

I’m pretty sure she used wool (she answered from another comment)
What kind of fabric you used?
Hi! Thanks for making this tutorial it's very clear and easy to follow! I'm 5'3, and I have 2 yards of fabric. Do you think it's enough to make a long cloak (long enough to reach to my ankles)? I've never made a cloak before, and I just need some input before I cut anything. I don't want a hood or anything, just a cloak. Thanks!
Can U Glue Or Hot Glue It?
if i need a longer cape? QnQ
I've always kind of wanted to make one of these of mosquito netting to wear outside...
I'm getting a sewing machine today! I'll see if my mom will let me use one of our really old sheets and comforters that don't fit any of the beds we have now.

if she doesn’t, thrift stores usually have a bunch:)
on peut aussi y mettre une doublure pour l'hiver
I thought I folded my fabric the same way, and I watched the clip multiple times, but apparently not enough. My cape piece was nearly cut in half RIP. Despite this I think I can salvage it. There's a 3 in or so part where its still together and im gonna put that on the front of my neck and put the two halves over the shoulder. Ill leave an opening to be able to slip it over my head and sew it up. That's the way im going to fix it if anyone else ends up doing what I did lol.
Hello i have a question, is it possible to add sleeves to these kinds of cloaks as well.
@FoxtailCos
4 жыл бұрын
If you want sleeves you need different type of pattern, this one won't work. it's a bit more complicated than this one, but I suggest to look in pinterest, they usually have good ideas.
Este modelo me servira para una capa sin capucha? Debo hacerle una a mi mamá 😂😊
Great video. An English tip, the word sew with a needle and thread should be pronounced like the word so. If you say the word as it is written, then you say Sue. Just to end, your English is very good.

What fabric is she using???
@buriichibakaimouto
3 жыл бұрын
In a previous reply she said it is a wool and by the look of it this is a lightweight suiting. Additionally since it doesn't fray much while handling I'd wager a knit rather than woven.
but.... you don't show how to attach the hood to the cape..?
I’m a bit confused, she said fold it again to where the neck should begin a triangular shape. Does that mean that I don’t fold it all the way to the end? Is that why she has a bunch left over on the end of the fabric?
@gluttonouspawn4619
3 жыл бұрын
Try doing it on paper like she said. rectangle folded to the line will leave fabric on the end like that. Idk how else to explain it.
Is she talking about bias tape
What is the fabric name? Please tell me the fabric name.. #foxtail
