Another great video Dave... knew it wouldn't take a rocket scientist to make them but this just shows the simplicity & how quickly someone like myself can do it. Thanks again & keep these coming!

Dave to make it easier you can clamp both pieces together and grind both spring notches at the same time.

Me and my father last year set a 220 conibear to catch an otter, it was 10 degrees out and it was near impossible to set it. Wish we had some trap setters that year

Mr. Canterbury, I enjoy your page a lot and watch many of your videos between classes and studies at my college. I am a Natural Resource major. I have been in a wheelchair for 25 years (my whole life) and also have a muscle disease. I do not have the strength to compress the springs on even the small foot hold traps. Does a pair of trap setters give you enough leverage to make it easier to compress the springs? The 21st Century Longhunter is my favorite series. Thank you, Jackie Newman

Hey Dave, I have enjoyed your run on Dual Survival, KZread and Dirty Rotten Survival. Thanks for all that you do. I made a set of these last year. I got the steel from Tractor Supply as well. I didnt cut them down to 18" though and they bent on me the first time i tried them. I know you do blacksmith work so I have a question for you. I have since straightened the steel back out. If I heat the steel up to red hot will it harden the metal so it doesnt bend with me? Thanks

From my experience i would say you need to cool it rapidly(like putting it in water or oil) once you heat it up. If you let it air dry it will become softer. Also from Georgia.Try his blacksmithing videos he has them on a playlist.

I recently bought a couple of Duke 110s and thought man why can't I set these it's been 40 years or more since I've trapped people say your getting old and weak but I had Victor 110s before and set them when I was 12 years old and can still set them I'm making a pair of setters it will just make things alot easier and faster

I was thinking maybe just one washer in between the arms on the center bolt/pin and that would provide less friction. Don't know, just my observation. Great video Dave! Later...
