Ok so here is a step by step guide on how I built the rotating mount for my Panoptix Livescope. This was done with parts that are readily available at home improvement stores. Having the rotating mount like this is key to make full use of the Livescopes potential. Total cost for this build is $25.00. All parts used listed below.

    Hi Jesse, I just had to come on here and thank you for the instruction video for the active Target pole. I had already done one using some jack attacks stuffed camera poles and stuff but just didn't work right and it was too expensive to be sticking that expensive pole down in the water. So I went to Lowe's and found the exact parts and had it all put together in no time at all it only cost $15 not even that I bought a couple extra parts and a Coke. And painted it gray I like the way you did the first one and I had the parts for that and grinding it was not a problem for me so I went that way and man does it work good thank you so much I'm going to try to attach a picture of the pole with the active Target on my Outback it's sitting on a trailer. Thanks again David Deponty.

    Mine came together well after I got the right part… but now I point it the direction I want to look and the wind/waves turn it the transducer,which is annoying. I’m guessing it is because of the Velcro I used instead of Zip ties, it’s a not exactly a tight fit. I wanted to be able to adjust it if I needed to and not have zip ties dig into the cord as someone else suggested… but might have to see if the zip ties make more tension so it does not turn as easily… Does yours ever turn on its own power due to wind/waves? How did you get it to not turn as easily?

    Good video. The only thing I would suggest is making a line (Sharpe) or something to show which way your transducer is pointing. Was just looking through youtube for other video's to see what others did. Not trying to advertise my channel, but I built one for my bass boat in kind of the same way only I have a handle which shows me the direction that the transducer is pointing and it is longer obviously to get below my hull. Good deal man and great explanation.

    WoW this is something I might have came up with drinking a 12 pack. But you came up with such a great idea at low cost. You really need to patent this before someone else does. What about V3 with a 90 degree elbow from a 1" to 3/4" with handle allowing you to point your live scope in that direction? Also are you using the live scope using the Panoptix perspective mode mount. Such a great idea man and when I build mine I am going to give 100% of the credit to you brother. You had open my eyes. BTW I like the scout setup while using my live scope to pan out schools of fish in open water. Again Great Idea

    Jesse, great build. I just got into livescope for my PA14 and the transducer mount is all your idea! Question on one of your video's it seems ( watched many on this subject), the PVC cap used for aiming I thought I saw two different aiming marks, if so why? My system isn't installed yet so looking for clarity.

  • @SouthernReelsFishing

    One mark is the center of the view in forward mode, the other mark is the center of the view in perspective mode. All I do is pivot the bracket up from one mode to the other and I dont have to rotate the transducer any. It's hard to explain but it makes it easy to switch modes

  • @SouthernReelsFishing

    @SouthernReelsFishing

    4 жыл бұрын

    You're welcome! And since this is kayak setup there is no trolling motor so that is not an issue. Now, if I point it in the right direction I can see the fins of my pedal drive moving in the live feed so maybe that is what you mean. But since you mentioned a trolling motor I am assuming you mean a boat application. I do have this setup on my boat and the same holds true. If I point it at my trolling motor I can see the shaft and motor unit clearly in the live picture. Of course it only shows at the true depth of the motor which is around 3 ft at the most when fully deployed. There is no interference other than that, just actual live feedback of where it is at the time. Something my uncle understands I'm sure...

    Bravo! Liked. Q: Is this stiff enough so that when you moving at 3-4 mph, it is still aligned and pointed forward properly. I realize that you can swivel this 360 degree horizontally in a circle. However, if you put it in perspective mode, can this thing also swivel 'vertically' when scanning in perspective model? Thanks again.

    If you lock it down tight it will hold. And yes it will swivel vertically but you have to do it manually by pulling it up and moving it with your hand

    I just plagerized your built and noticed something. The rotation is easy but the size of the transducer on the bottom and the current could easily turn the transducer if you aren't holding it. I think i need to restrict the rotation so the current can't easily turn my transducer. I don't have the Garmin but the Lowrance ActiveTarget transducer, but almost same shape.

    @@SouthernReelsFishing i figured so. I took your idea and some comments below and came up with another solution. Saddle Tee as the holder of the 1" sched40. so there's no inner pipe, and the outerpipe would just rotate inside this saddle. I hope it works well. I'm also using the saddle for suppporting the transducer end during transport. Thanks for your ideas. www.lowes.com/pd/LASCO-1-in-x-3-4-in-90-Degree-PVC-Sch-40-Tee/3371266

    Mine came together well after I got the right part… but now I point it the direction I want to look and the wind/waves turn it the transducer, which is annoying. I’m guessing it is because of the Velcro I used instead of Zip ties, it’s a not exactly a tight fit. I wanted to be able to adjust it if I needed to and not have zip ties dig into the cord as someone else suggested… but might have to see if the zip ties make more tension so it does not turn as easily… How did your friend get it to not rotate as easily? Mine basically spins freely whenever I move! Saw that you gave that one to a buddy…. Thanks a million of you answer for Pete’s sake 😂

    great video. 2 Q's 1. what provides enough friction so transducer doesn't swivel too easily and turn when paddling kayak? 2. could you clarify what you mean by "8 TRAIL MOUNT". (your original mount)

  • @SouthernReelsFishing

    @SouthernReelsFishing

    5 жыл бұрын

    A couple wraps of electrical tape around the top of the inner pipe provides friction. And the original mount is an H rail mount. Its proprietary to Hobie. Definitely not something cost efficient, I had a bunch of them laying around and it was something I could modify quickly and use.

The C size combo (metal) is $49 on RAMs website and since I needed the PVC mount I just bought everything there so I would have only one S&H charge...which BTW is ridiculous, specially when they say it will ship w/in 7 days if they have it in stock.
