This is the first time I've had the 72 ah of headways in my whip for more than a 10 min torture test. Dude, Parker get some ultracaps to go between your amps and headways... brah I've been doing this a min n I'm telling you, ultracaps AND lithium is whas up man... research it if you want but an xs power SB 630 farad in my little 7-9k system has my voltage more rock solid than I thought poss! for approx $800 for lithium and ultrcap... im surging almost 800 amps and steady 13.8-14.3 the ENTIRE time... Level up brotha! Thanks for turning me onto the headways! So glad I took the plunge!

This was an awesome surprise! Great to see you tackle a DIY lithium battery. I have been wanting to do a lithium battery myself for a couple of years now, and i've done tons and tons of research. The absolute best cells to use are A123 Systems 26650 cells. They are little 2.5 ah cells, but you can get a box of 100 cells for about $500 if you are lucky. These cells are capable of 50 amps continuous discharge each! to put it simply, 100 cells make a 62.5 ah battery that is capable of 1250 amps continuous discharge @ 12+ volts. It would support 15,000 watts continuous easily and 36,000 watts burst for 30 seconds.

@catch22frubert 50 amps from a 2.5ah cell is 20c but the headway’s are actually capable of 25c so his 64ah bank could discharge 1620 amps with large enough busbars and equipment to handle it. There are multiple brands of LTO cells and LiFePo4 that can discharge 50c to 100c as well. If you are mainly looking for a lithium cell with a high C rate there are a few better options out there, and I realize I’m 10 months behind, so you might have already learned this on your own. I was just trying to help out cause I spent a bit of money buying the same exact cells then started finding so many cells with higher output and I was pretty upset.

i disagree , that balancer way more expensive and way overkill being that it will do 1000ah no problem , another factor is balance rate the HA02 only does 2mA balance current in our application , this balancer does 1.2A current for balance !!! so its way faster. @catch22frubert a full blown BMS for our use would cost 5 times what this bank cost IF you can even find one ... typically a bms for something like this would have to be custom made and most likely be from a china company .

DO NOT put these on a charger once or twice a week , you will ruin them ! these are not AGM ! its 100% pointless to charge these unless they are low like below 11v , and in that case id use a variable bench power supply not a charger designed for something specific . the bench power supply can be used for anything 0-30v

Dude, this is dope! I'm impressed. I just spend $375 on a xs power 3400 agm battery and some side post terminal adapters! And I coulda had this lol!? Plus I bought this to make my skar rp2000 happy, but I bought it about 40 days ago, and I've had to send it back twice cuz they went into permanent protect. Fist one lasted 7 day at 4 ohm, and second one lasted 9 days at 1 ohm. (Initially had to break my American bass elite in at first so had to run at 4 ohm.) So it's been super unreliable and it really sucks. And I got a decent bit of money into this so I'm just a lil upset. But dude that is super dope and look so easy and actually pretty fun! Crazy watching you get smarter and smarter. And hearing your name more and more in bass head community. "That parker kid" they always say lol. Congrats on your success man!

I own a Skar RP-2k as well, but mine has been solid for 3 years! Sorry to hear yours went bad twice! You should think about getting rid of the Skar, and getting a Soundqubed S1-2250. Much better amp with a clip light on the bass knob for similar money, about $250. Wolfram also makes a 2500 watt $250 amp with a clip light, the C-2400 I believe. I might even be willing to sell you my Orion XTR- 2500.1dz if you are interested.

@@catch22frubert if you see my videos, I've got okay stuff and tryna do it properly but can't get my amp to be solid for the life of me. I wanted to like skar so much! But I was actually checking out that wolfram 2400. It looks pretty solid. And yeah, the clip light too is dope. I just got money wrapped into this skar, plus a $22 warranty plan from eBay Idk if it'll be refunded too? Just got wrapped up when I only wanted that 140 db daily bumper lol.

Sucks that you are having issues with your Skar amp. I have an RP-1500.1 in my truck and an RP-2000.1 in my car and both of them have been going strong for almost 3 years now.

@@joeb9793 so I'm just that unlucky mf as usual lol. I've seen some people say theirs have been solid, I seen some say they had protect problems also and had to swap out 4 or 5 times before skar just gave them a refund. Jordan up at skar has been really good to me tho. So I just gotta trust he fixes the issue!

And what I was going to do is use a bms just for charging possible with a large relay like a solenoid but that might not work well for you depending on your power draw but with a resistor in series for charging like a 1 ohm or .5 ohm to limit current so it doesn't destroy my alternator or the bms

  • @youngtwggoof

I've been doing a LOT of research on these headway banks, and I'd really like to build one for my system. But my alternator charges at 14.9v, and I can't find a solid answer on whether or not that would be safe with headway cells. Don't want to start a lithium fire in my truck 😂.

Hey Parker love the Vidoes, how do you regulate the flow from the car alternator to the bank? I know u have balancer, but that's not a amperage regulator, and there doesn't seem to be a BMS with a high temp low temp, hi voltage charge cut off, or any kind of high amp cut off protection, and no bluetooth to watch the bank. I'm glad u put itbin the battery box though. Just wondering, thanks!

Good point. The alternator will regulate voltage and current on its own, based on the voltage provided fielding it, as well as the control input from the PCM. However, lithium does not charge the same as lead acid. 99% of vehicles from 90s to 2010s will only allow the alternator to charge around 2 to 4 amps unless the load is particularly high for some reason, like fans and lights are on. So there is regulation, it's called a voltage regulator and rectifier bridge. In a real serious setup I would use or make my own separate regulation control.
