DIY Kitchen Cabinet Upgrade with Full Extension Pull Out Drawers
Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль
The kitchen cabinet where we store our pots and pans was in desperate need of some organization help. So I cut out the center stile and added some full extension drawers!

I can't see any reason why you trimmed the sides of the center face frame you removed..... Its driving me nuts trying to figure out why you did that

Because the piece was too wide for the doors to close?

@@christinacutlass1694 ???? It was attached to the door... You always have to close that one first

Maybe the piece had some wear and damage
For beginning woodworkers like us, a running commentary would have been very helpful. Please consider adding it. Lovely work.

I agree!
Dude my mind is blown. I love the idea of the drawers but the fact that you took the center piece and attached it to the door to keep the look but gain functionality is genius!

Same. I wanted to cut that middle slab piece. It’s annoying. Thank you
Brilliant. I don’t think I have ever learned so much from a non narrated video as I did here. Great job.
Love a table saw where the user brings the safety. Excellent!
I love watching wood working projects & this one is exciting because I can do this. Granted I don't have all the tools you have, however seeing the easy ways to cut, install with those templet strips gives me so many ideas. Thanks so much for sharing this.
I liked your video, very helpful! No music or overly verbose talking, just showing how it's done - Getting ready to do this for the wife also... Thanks!

Why is the kitchen "the wife's " is the toilet hers too
Thank you, after watching this video I have confidence to build a few sliding drawers to my motorhome.
Love it, awesome video, not trying to be a comedian, or funky music, just da business. great job
You caught us from the beginning when you started cutting out the center board. I just had to see what you were going to do. Ingenious move adding the center to one of the doors. Great project.

Poor Man's DIY thank you. I’m glad you liked it!
I prefer videos with verbal instruction. But I did like this one.
Every base cabinet should be manufactured like this! Getting ready to build some cabinets for our kitchen and was trying to figure out how to manage the spacing between the doors if we used full drawers. Thanks man!
That's a really good idea you had by attaching the middle section of the frame to the cabinet door. It looks good & turned out great! I may borrow your idea when I attempt this on my own cabinet.
Excellent video, this is on my to-do list. This has encouraged me to try and get things done. Thanks very much.
Nice job. Great vid showing sequence you did it in. Thanks for sharing.
Not a words spoken. My kind of video.
All need this in kitchens 50 years ago some had them built like that nice as you age
I was mesmerized! Nice work
This is exactly what we need, thanks!
Great work - pleasure to watch!
AWEAWESOME JOB!! I want that in my kitchen
Wow! Just the information I was looking for. Not sure I have the strength or talent. But interested in trying. I’m a recent widow almost 65 and have huge health issues. But my kitchen is a storage nightmare! Thank you for the information!

Excellent job
Nicely done!
totally awesome and well thought
Now I need someone to do this in my kitchen.
MUY BIEN HECHO, Y MUY PRACTICO.FELICIDADES
Wow! Looks great!
Nice work 👍
We need more videos like this!
Nice. Good solid build without 5k worth of fancy tools. Now I know I can do same with my cupboards.
That was a great job❤️ would love for my husband to do that to my kitchen

And, I just subscribed! Thanks again!
This is genius for smaller/older homes. It's my dream to do this to my cabinets because they're so narrow when separate, would be so much more useful to open together. The other videos of customizing and expensive bulky cabinetry doesn't work for everyone. Just wish I had the talent and tools to do this 🥺
Great job!
In the process of building slide out shelves as well for the kitchen cabinets. 4:40 to 5:12 is a great tip. Thanks
Great job thanks for sharing!
Very ingenious 👌👍
I have had pull out drawers since 1991. I just need new cabinet fronts. I love my pull outs.
Excellent job! And don’t worry about explaining it, hobby woodworkers and professionals know what we’re seeing.
Very impressive.
Come do mine!! I have been wanting this done forever!! Nice work.
Felicitaciones, trabajo muy prolijo, saludos desde Argentina !
I use the 3/4 spacers for the roll outs drawers and their work fantastic! You should try it
Good job!!! When we know what to do & we have the tools, plus a good helper 🐕 sure, We can do amazing things 👍👍👍
This was super helpful! Thanks!
Nice job!
That was so satisfying to watch. I'm looking to put pull outs in a tall cabinet. I can't find a thing in the back!
Nice job man
Excellent!
Loved just watching!
When you get a chance stop by and add some of these to my cabinets. Lol I have often said if I get new cabinets the bottom cabinets will be drawers and not cabinets. With my back issues I often can't get to the back of a cabinet that in almost at floor level
I have the exact cabinet that you are upgrading. How lucky it is for me to find your tutorial. Unfortunately I don’t have the nice table saw and equipment that you have 😞 But I got the idea and will work around to achieve it 🙏👏🌟👍
Wow, in my younger days I would have done that to my cabinets. My base cabinets have a small half shelf that is practically worthless.
This is great Daniel!!

Very Nice 👍
Great Video! Very good videography, steady camera, and very enjoyable to watch! I'll be doing this upgrade soon and it was nice seeing it done first.
So you took what's in my head and made a video to help my husband understand what I was trying to explain! After I watched it, I dragged out of the car that he was working and made him watch it twice. My next question... How long will it take for you to do all four of our cabinets?
nice job !

Nice Job,,
Betty good idea
Excellent video! I need this setup in my kitchen badly!!
I have two cabinets to which I will be do that same improvement!
Be sure to check for screws in the back of the center post. Some cabinets have four screws on the cabinet side of the post, two at the top and two at the bottom.
Custom. Nice.
You were doing exactly what I wanted to do myself. Thank you! If I can make a suggestion, would you tell your audience what you are doing and explain things as you go?
Thank you. I want to do something very similar to a bath vanity for client. I'm looking to add three drawers on the right side and use the existing door for the drawer faces. The existing cabinet does not have a center support. If I add one, then I have something to fasten to on that side for the new drawers to fit into. I really appreciate no background soundtrack. Thank you for that, I like the way you work. I am subscribing today.
You just solved my problems!

Rather than rabbeting the bottom in, consider putting in a dado and then under the bottom shelf run a piece of perforated steel, from side to side. Having had 1/2" shelves with pots on them for 20 years, the 1/2" shelf in a rabbet will bow eventually. Using the dado gives you 1/2" to slide in a piece of steel to support the shelf. pots and pans are heavy

Normally I would agree however, he used a piece of 3/4" thick birch ply for the bottom - it's plenty strong.
Nice
I just started this today, test fit took the longest haha
Excellent video!!! BTW, from where did you purchase the drawer slides? Thanks.
Excellent! Can you post a link to the hardware you used? Thx!
Adorei seus fur baby, lol. I talk to mine just like that. Thank you for inspiring me! I think I'd like to make your creation for my plant shelf? No? Ciao! 2:53
I’ve thought about removing that center face frame to make larger pullouts, but I wasn’t sure if it would compromise the strength of the cabinet, thanks for sharing!

TBH that cabinet does not appear too wide. We have 45" wide 'uns and I 'd be careful taking them off. But he is patient, exacting and talented. Great tutorial for sure.

I've thought the same thing. I was wondering if I would want to reinforce with a board on the inside just above the opening, but I think that center piece doesn't really add to much in terms of structural support to begin with and the counter top above probably disperses the weight anyways.
Badass!
This was a great video. Thanks for sharing. I still don't understand how you did an entire video without talking to yourself even once, LOL. I am constantly mumbling, or swearing, when my DIY attemtps are underway.

Col Williams thanks! Haha I edited all those bits out. 😂
Great video, what finish did you use? Was it a water based poly?
Agreed ... while incessant chatter is annoying a lil bit of what you are using or what your doing to avoid ___ would be nice. STILL INSPIRED! We have that same cabinet & wish to high heaven we'd have spent the extra $ and had pull outs in ALL from the git-go. Thanks for showing the work around on the door - that alone was worth watching! 😎
