Two opposing overhand knots makes a square knot that WILL NOT come loose. But you have to tie the second one with the line coming through from the opposite side as the first for that to make a square knot.

Great idea but I think I would just clip to the reels when I'm paddling. Seems like it would be cumbersome to keep attached while fishing
