    Thank you so much for a good quality video. I will state, you're plumb lucky, though, that even with machinist style safety glasses, without wearing a full face shield, while using an angle grinder, you havent got multi-scars on your face and neck from the hot metal you're removing. I've worked metal all my life and have seen folks that started out with the same safety ideas..."safety glasses are enough...I don't like all that junk hanging in front of me...or...it gets in my way...until someone has to go to the emergency room when they ground toward a gusset and it spit back on them and they were burnt their face all up. You guy are great!...and LUCKY !!!

    @@mrdavidurquhart Lateral torsional buckling of the cantilever boom is a hugh problem that is not directly related to the bending stresses in the steel. Also, it seemed to deflect too much at the top when one of the helpers swung on it. A failure of this structure would probably take place very suddenly, without warning, and that is the most dangerous kind of failure.

    Cantilever beams will always deflect SOME under a load... Just because you can see it doesn't mean it's bad. I'm sure the pipe is still FAR from plastic deformation under the loads he's rated it for.

  • @tatehalpin5686

    @tatehalpin5686

    @@KevinDay Its not so much an issue with plastic deformation as deflection, when the jib sags and your beam trolley runs to the end of it deflecting even more. Or in this case, right off the end, as it looks like there isn't a stop for the trolley.

    @Patrick Elliott no just you do. Very narrow minded biassed thinking and narrow minded view of art and music. A common liberal thing.

    @Patrick Elliott noise? Time to get your hearing checked, and or something is wrong with u our speakers or listening device because clearly something is wrong. Glad music and art of this video are included,adding to the experience. The only noise I hear are your posts.

    Don't feel bad my 3M flap discs don't last or work near as well as a regular grinding wheel and or sanding discs. Expensive and not very productive. Good project. Take care. Doug

    I find that the better (more $$$) disks work great and last a long time on bare metal, removing scale seems to eat them up, or to be more accurate glaze them over so they stop cutting.

    I buy my flap disks on amazon Look up benchmark abrasives They have several different grits Last time i got them it was $20 for a 10 pack and they are the blue zirconium ones as opposed to $6 for 1 at yer local store. They seem to last just as good as name brand. As long as yer not using on paint or scale clogging them up
