I have a 3.2hp electric winch I’ve been planning to mount. Love your design. I purchased a 30’ tow truck jumper cable set to hook to the solenoid. It’s plenty of length to reach the truck battery with the trailer connected. The only thing I thought about adding to the mount is a piece of angle at the front, to work as a depth stop and to add extra stability by spreading the pulling load against the trailer frame, not just the stake pocket.

Great project dude I love it. I wanted to see it in place with stock in the buckets haha!! Might give this a go on a smaller scale with round buckets and 2x4. I have no joke about 25 five gallon buckets stacked on the side of the house. I easily use 5-10 on a regular basis. But you know buckets are just a thing a man ends up collecting LOL. Thanks!!

Great build man. Aluminum definitely professional “last forever” approach. I built mine from 3/4 plywood kind of as a prototype and it’s been in the bed almost 1.5 years haha. Holding up well. Full of tools and hardware.. I’ve had over 900 pounds of LVP flooring boxes stacked on it and it held just fine.10 Bags of cement, 3 toilets.all kinds of stuff. I’m very happy with the plywood. I DO have to tarp it when it rains. Only down side. But I treated the whole thing (outside) with used motor oil so light rains and drizzles don’t affect it at all. Thanks for vids!! Would love to see a video of inside the drawers!

If I wanted to use steel cable to mock up a design that would eventually be using chain and sprockets how could I connect the steel cable to itself (preferably without a loop or a knot)? I just do not generally use steel cable so I lack experience and knowlege of how to properly use it. Thanks in advance for any and all advice, opinions, or answers. Regards

I just bought the same saw at HD for $140 tool only on clearance - yay! Everything feels great Except for the slide - feels like there’s a bit of resistance (knob’s un tightened of course.) Kind of like the bearings are worn , but maybe it’s the design, you did mention something similar when unpacking. BTW, don’t forget the included clamp when cutting short pieces, especially 45’s.

I always enjoy watching your videos and I know this is an older video. I rebuild trailers like lowboys, flatbed, step deck, etc. Downhill with short circuit Meg does not get enough penetration for hitches. My go to is gas shielded flux core because the seismic wire has ductility and stretches a little bit. I have seen trailers inspected and they seem downhill welds on them put out of service. Again, I’m not criticizing your work. It looks good and I always believe in overdoing it, but I agree with the other person who said dual shielded, flux core or 7018 should’ve been used.

Try with short Welding gun, 9-10ft, carbon PTFE liner for p,023” and contact tip for Aluminum. Also take a special cre to drive roll pressure to welding wire, and eventually change the drive rolls to new one. Check also distances in feeding system, from entrance to drive rolls, and connection to liner, should be without gaps. On the welder adjust the voltage to 13, 14, or 15 V and than play with wfs , beginning from 225ipm and go slowly further…

I've had mine for at least 6 years. DeWalt is only a single bevel or I would have gotten that. But yes this song is wonky and you cannot put any type of lateral pressure whatsoever on the handle or your angle will be off. Been looking for something new. DeWalt is still single bevel. Do better DeWalt.
