Can't believe all that work was done without cleaning the carbon from the valves and intake ports. But thanks for the video 😊

Thank you so much for making this video. I have to pull of my intake to fix a coded vacuum leak on my 2002 Ford Escape. While I am in there I wanted to completely refresh all my seals and install new ignition coils ect. Your video was really amazing again thank you and God bless!

Very simple... before you start dismantling, remove the FUEL PUMP fuse and/or Relay. Turn the car on and let it run on Idle until it dies...the car will stop due to lack of fuel in the lines, hence, losing all pressure. Fuel pump typically pressurize the fuel injectors at 40-45 psi. i hope this helps.. Please subscribe

Great video and a very thorough job! I'm pretty sure though that 13ft/lbs is not the correct torque value for those manifold bolts. It's more like 70 to 100 in/pounds. I know for a fact that is is on my 2006 Mazda 6 with the same 3.0L engine.

Thank you for pointing that out... after you mentioned, i researched it and you are correct.. the torque is 89 ft-in for the intake manifold... Thanks again

Hi ToshiSate81, thanks for the thorough and fantastic video! Any idea how to know if i even need to replace the lower gasket seals? I have a vacuum leak that is coming from upper intake gaskets, but ive no idea how to tell if they're also coming from lower seals. Definitely subscribing, man!

It's throwing a 1049 and 0430 code, if that helps at all

  • @toshisate8121

JJ.. there are several tests to look for vacuum leaks (Smoke test, starting fluid test, to name a few). but since you are replacing the upper gaskets and the Kit comes with the lower ones, it is safe to do them all... the lower ones are very easy to reach after the manifold is removed. you can even take them out without removing the fuel rail ( if you want to make it simpler). Just remove the 8 bolts holding the 2 lower manifolds and pull the whole assembly out.

not sure if these codes are related to vacuum leaks.

It idles really rough at idle, but it goes away after the car warms up. I'm told the gaskets warm up and expand, preventing gases from leaking out. I had a mechanic spray starting fluid and he told me it needs new gaskets, so thats why i say anything

He also said it's probably throwing 0430 because of a bad cat, but id rather not deal with that until i have to lol

3 hour max... since I already took apart the manifold, i added another 90 minutes to inspect/replace the Spark plugs and the coils in the back of the engine bay. the front side is easy, but the back side takes a lot of work to do... so, add some extra time and do it since it is accessible when manifold is out. Thanks for commenting and please subscribe
