Hello, I'm just watching this it's a very lovely and well explained video but I have a question. If I choose the more loose fit as you pointed out when you were making the front part, would I still need to add all the extras you added at the back to the other side?

This is really lovely.. very easy to understand. I have a question though. Won't all the extra measurements added to the back block around the knee, hip and ankle affect the overall fit? Like make it bigger or sth. Thanks.

Thank you so much for watching we really appreciate your question, it depends on the style. As mentioned in the tutorial we went for a basic loosed fit, remember because the back is more curvy than the front you need more room. But if you prefer a more fitted style feel free to reduce from the sides seams of both the back and front pattern, but don’t take off more than an inch, and also for non stretchy fabric you need room for ease, so it depends how well it fits, you can make the adjustments if any. This is just a guide on how to draft a basic trouser and the best way to try out your pattern is to make a toile and see how it fits then refer to your master draft for any adjustments. Hope this answers you questions, feel to ask more if any🙂

Thank you from Australia for teaching me how to do this. One thing I do not understand though is how do you find the 1 x 1 inch at the anke for the front and the 1.5 at the ankle for the back. Also, I understand how to find the crotch extension for the front but how do you come to the conclusion that the bak crotch extension is 2 incehs longer from the front. Where do you get his measurement.

Hi, thank you for your question. The answer to both of your question, is that the back needs more room than the front hence the difference in measurements. E.g for the back crotch you need extra room for sitting, bending etc… and for the ankle you also need more room for the back…due to the examples I have initially stated. Kind regards
Hi, I have another question. If I want to add waist band how do I go about it?

Thank you for this video. How do I get the appropriate crotch length to use?
@SeamsNotches
3 жыл бұрын
You are most welcome, the best way it to sit on a hard flat surface like a wooden chair, make sure you are sitting upright, then you start by measuring sideways from you waist downwards to were your bottom touches the chair. Hope this helps.

That is crotch depth…not crotch length.
How do you find the darts position.
@SeamsNotches
Жыл бұрын
Thank you so much for your question, usually to get the dart position of a garment, you have to divide the distance between your apex points.
How did u get the measurements 1.1/2” out from knee line and angle line ??
@SeamsNotches
10 ай бұрын
The measurements 1.5” from the knee line and 1” from the ankle line was derived from our formula which has been tried and tested on many women. These measurements are used for the inner leg seam line for the back pattern. especially for a semi loosed fit. As mentioned in the video.

@@SeamsNotches thank you. I am trying to learning. 😊
What of a plus size person how will you determine d cotch point please
@SeamsNotches
Жыл бұрын
Thank you for the question, use the same method for any size, it’s all size inclusive. Make sure you make a toile first and see how it looks, then once the toile is made you can determine how much or less you need to add to the measurement.
Hi, please clarify if the crotch length at 1.05 is actually crotch depth. This is because if the crotch length is measured from back of waist to front waist, it cannot be just 12".
@SeamsNotches
2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for your question, in this tutorial we used only the front measurement. which is waist to front crotch. Another way you can get your crotch length is by sitting upright on a flat surface chair and measure from waist to the chair surface (where your bottom touches the chair) that’s how we got 12 for this particular size in the video. Hope this explanation helps.😊

That's right..length and depth are different...length refers to both front and back depths.

What if you have a curvy butt and need a longer back crotch length?
Hello. Is the total crotch 12 + waist band?
@SeamsNotches

Thank you so much for your question, yes.. the waistband is included.😊
Trying to following ur tutorials today n something isn’t right. At shaping d crotch area to get d right position. U say dividing 3.75 by 2 Wia should b 1.87 But Ure using 0.88 If I should divide Mine by 2 is totally out of proportion n u didn’t use divided by 2 as ur screen writeup indicate.tanx for ur teaching anyway
@SeamsNotches

Thank you so much for pointing this out, it really show how attentive you are 😊, Very sorry about the typo in the the description, I will surely rectify this, But as it was said in the video to get the position divide the crotch depth which is 3.75” by 2 and the answer is 1.88” and this is the right measurement based on my method. Hope this clarifies any confusion my typo may have caused. Once again thank you so much for pointing this out🙏🏽
