Congratulations to yall on your new born, healthy and do well hopefully. You could have doug a spot for the back hope to sit deeper than ground level and achieve the distance without the manual labor part.

You need to take a look at your manual. There are two settings on the backhoe. One for shallow ditch and one for deep ditch. It requires moving a pin. It's easier to dig on the shallow setting but if you move it you can dig deeper

I assembled it on the deep pin setting and it’s been that way since. It’s pretty clearly marked on the machine in massive writing so the manual isn’t really needed for that! Good to know that it’s easier to dig on the shallow setting, I’ve never used it. Thanks!

Shallow setting gives more bucket lift height allowing for loading low wall height dump trailers

@@RidgyDidgeRanch👍🏻 Mine wasn't marked anywhere on the machine itself, I found it just reading through the manual

I just got my HF towable backhoe last weekend! Using it to make my 5 acres of backwoods useable. My land is very hilly and rocky. so far just getting used to what my machine can do and it's limitations.

They’re a great little machine! I’ve seen videos of them pulling up pretty big rocks, but I don’t have any of those thankfully. I’d say if it was a little heavier in the front end it could probably cut more effectively in my dirt, but it still gets the job done if you’re not in a hurry!

Welcome to the world little one! I gotta admit I was shocked to hear you say something about a 'permit' that far out from any urban area. Good luck! Nice video :)

or dig a 3 ft trench on each side of where you want 8’ trench so wheels are 3’ below grade then dig 5’ from 3’ below grade do what you need then back fill entire area

A trick is to ramp in to the hole dig to full depth then fill in the ramp when complete (also makes it easier to place footings and build your base walls since a slope is easier to walk on than to climb a ladder in and out of the pit... Also if you weld a hook to the back of the bucket you can use it as a light duty jobsite crane for lifting awkward things in and out of the hole

Beautiful view, Where is this at? I’m contemplating getting a towable backhoe and am wondering if a larger engine and pump would be a benefit to this machine as other videos I’ve watched this machine seems a bit jerky when pivoting and moving the arm.

Hi Wes, it’s in Saguache County, Colorado. The jerkiness of the controls I think comes more from the cheap valves than the engine or pump. The more time on the machine the smoother you get but it’s still not great. It’s a pretty strong little unit but it’s quite slow. A higher flow rate pump would definitely make it faster, not sure if that would make the cylinder forces lower as a trade off though. It might be more cost effective just to upgrade a few parts on the stock engine to get a few extra hp out of it with another pump. Plenty of performance parts out there for the predator engines!

@@RidgyDidgeRanch Thanks for the feedback. Good luck on your build, beautiful area. A good friend of mine family has a vacation home in Villa Grove. We’ve went there about 25 years ago to elk hunt, Beautiful area.

@@RidgyDidgeRanch cylinder forces remain the same however the swing circuit is fast enough stock so it would need a flow restrictor for that hydraulic circuit increasing the pump size is a good modification there are good videos out there for it a. 1.75gpm-2 gpm pump is about perfect for an upgrade on these machines and is about the largest pump these machines can run on the stock engine

@@RidgyDidgeRanchmost of the jerkiness is actually from the low flow rate from the pump for the valve size... That being stated these valves are very crudely made and have as cast internal ports (I have had to rebuild a defective set on mine) the biggest downfall I've had with these is the strength of the outriggers (it would be greatly beneficial to beef up the weld joints in the outriggers) the tubing tends to tear at the elbow

If you go up one engine size you can get electric start and can add an alternator and lighting

This one is the house, I’m building a 600sqft section first to live in, then another 1600sqft after. Already built the shed, it was just a regular a-frame and about 400sqft.
