Have you tried using Simplifly? It's a pass through feed (it tastes like Alfalfa) that, when it goes through the horse (when passing manure), it lands on the manure and feeds.... and the Simplifly causes the flies to not be able to multiply. It is very very safe, and I have almost zero flies. I've been using it for years (vet approved!) - a lady that owns high end race horses turned me onto it, and everyone I know uses it now. worth.every.penny.

Love the look on your face as you are spilling ingredients all over the place. And especially when you added the smelly ingredients. ❤️❤️😂

The fly trap is interesting , we take plastic bottles and put some sweet liquid in it like fruit syrup and they just drown in that, works well for us. We have them around our cows

We used something similar for our horses. We seldom used any other repellants bc they worked so well for us!

A tip with the fly traps is to make sure they are far enough away so they don’t still bother you or your horse. It’s an attractant so attach them away from the horses.

Love your videos & 🐎 🐎 🐴 🐎 ❤ if you're out of a funnel, you can use a chopstick to pull your pour into the bottle. Watch a few videos to get the hang of it, I rarely use funnels now

Pine-sol is not supposed to be applied to you or your horse. Using some pine oil drops in a botanical fly spray is fine but Pine-sol is not pine oil. It contains synthetic pine that is derived from real pine. Pine-sol used to contain 8-12% pine oil until the oil became too expensive.

The fly traps indeed works well. Did you know that many comercial fly sprays contains prohibid ingredients by competitions, at least in competitions with FEI and longines in europe.😊

More natural is always better than chemicals. I would eliminate the dishsoap from the fly spray just so it doesn't dry the horses's skin. Also, a dog fly repellent/deterrent is a food supplement like Smartpak Equine's Bug Off which interrups the life cycle of the fly. I would suggest checking it out.

Try Skin So Soft original skin lotion. It's supposed to be great at repelling flies and mosquitoes.

I’ve tried many sprays over the years and in my opinion they do not work effectively. They are expensive too. What I choose to use on my mare is fly cream. It must have the ingredient Deet. I apply sparingly to outside of ears. Under Front legs. Between back legs ( not udders) Along Umbilical line. Bottom of flank area both sides. Also a tiny area on the front of her chest where flies might dig under the fur. I’m happy with doing that.

I make shampoo or spray with 1/3 part of vinegar, 1/3 dishwashing product with lemon or orange and 1/3 of water, to kill all fleas and ticks on my dogs. And this works very well but you have to let it working during 10 minutes and then rince with water. Si i don't know if it's good to let your product with vinegar on your horse alk the time. Because i don't think it's very good for their skin.

Know a woman who did a homeopathic concoction and it didn't work. Her gelding had his sheath eaten up by flies so badly it got infected. The poor guy nearly died from the infection.

Flies eat my gelding up behind his sheath too. I board so I don't see him every day, but once a week I like to clean the area up and dab on a good coating of Swat on it. It helps but nothing completely rids them. Luckily he's ok about it and no infections.

I won't put anything on my horse's skin that I wouldn't put on mine. So, while I applaud DIY, and especially the use of natural ingredients, both vinegar & dish soap are a big NO for me --- vinegar actually attracts flies, and who wants dried dish soap on them?? Also, peppermint is definitely a repellant, but will seriously sting if it gets in the horse's nose. And finally, IF your want to use Essential Oils, make sure that they are Therapeutic Grade if you want them to actually work.

Hi carmella I am from india Really loved your vidoes and are relatively helpful all the ways. I have brought a mare a few months back, she was normal but as the days past she got a habit of shaking her head side by side as if she is very curious or anxious tried everything but in vain. I could send u her video if u give me your email.
