An old monitor and the stand from a larger broken one live on as my high rise digital microscope display.
The end result is extremely stable and perfectly fits my needs.
An alternative method would have been adding a square steel plate to the mount and using the monitors VESA mounting points, this would have facilitated vertical orientation.
I know it's just a workshop setting, however I could cover the visible mount with some of the left over plastic, but I intend to mount something on it like a power supply or digital oscilloscope display.
