Hey Jay, I would get a few pool noodles and cut them to fit the opening and glue them in place so the dogs wont step on the Edge or bump into the side openings.

Agreed, or even some rubber garden hose around the metal edge would do the trick 👍

Maybe extend the drain pipe through the deck so the water doesn’t come out on your feet? Great job!!

Best thing I found for sharp metal edges is a garden hose with a slit cut into it and then slide it on the metal.

Car door self adhesive edge gards would work perfectly.

Where you cut the metal tub entrance, you should put some rubber foam to cover the sharp edges from the cut. Otherwise, that is just an accident waiting to happen.

Great job. I would add an edge guard on where the metal was cut. Especially the bottom side that they could step on.

Consider something from Trimlok. Would not want to hurt a puppers paw pad on that metal edge!

What works great on the sharp edges is to use a small diameter hose (1/4" or smaller). Using a razor blade knife, slice length wise and use your Excell to glue it on the sides and bottom edge.

I have gotten more grief about giving my dogs warm water baths…I am glad to know I am not alone. I think this may be your most ingenious build yet. as far as that sheet metal edge, if it is still sharp there is sort of a “U” shaped self adhering neoprene strip that might work well. 👍🏻👍🏻

Consider putting pool noodles, cut to length and sliced open on one side end to end, on the cut edges to help prevent injury to man or beast. They have a multirude of uses around the house. On outdoor metal chair arms when its hot outside to stuffing tall boots to help prevent folding. Think outside the box. An alternative could be pipe insulation or the edgeing made to protect car doors, depending on cost comparison. I buy 4-5 noodles every year when they go on clearance at the end of summer. Love the heater!! Could be useful at the barn too if you dont have access to hot water.

Ellis….paddling pool is the way to go….. although I do enjoy you working 🤣🤪

Pretty cool idea. You should get some cold galvanizing spray and spray those cut edges so they don't rust

I thought you would have made a ramp for the dogs to make it easier for them to walk into the tub. Either way, excellent work as usual.

That was a thought, but then it was just gonna take up too much space on the deck

Put pipe insulation on the entry edge to illuminate any chance of cutting, scratching on the cut metal. God bless you and your family.

That is a great idea! Can I suggest adding split hoses or something to cover the sharp edges top to bottom on both sides...that appears to be waiting to catch a dog or someone in between toes as they walk into the tub...ouch...

Anything to truly avoid injuries to others, and of all due to all sharp edges...been there, done that...won't go into the gruesome details of a foot injury...was injured due to no protection provided from something of a similar design...added protection applied to all sharp edges is all that is suggested.@@davis51369​

I love the dog bath. Could you put something at the edges of the bathtub to protect yourselves and the dogs from accidental cuts.

Best setup yet sut I would add trim to the metal edges and from the auto parts store you can get door edge guards and cover the sharp edges. Rubber Edge Trim U Channel Edge Trim Sheet Metal Edge Guard Protector, Self-Adhesive EPDM Seal Strip for Panels, Car Doors, Steel Plates, Hatches, Table Corners, Fit 1/16"(1.6mm), 10Ft Length from amazon is another way for around $10.00

Car door edge protectors would do great to keep them from getting cut at the entrance. The pool noodles would be great to go around the top. Sure it's already blunt but, you could always use a little bit more padding as you are still leaning over😄...Also, I think that a flat shower drain would have been better suited than a sink drain. Thanks, this was entertaining to watch. Also, when I was growing up, I never ever, ever come across ice cold water from the water hose. 😄

Now you just need to automate it. Hook up a 3D printer with some spray nozzles and you got yourself a “Laser Touchless Dog Wash”, charge neighbors $10 per dog, retire from Perkins. 😊

when I give the dogs a bath my back feels about 100 years old by the end of it 🤣

I use to bathe in the tub with my dog. He use to love it so much, he would jump into the tub whenever I went into the bathroom. When I moved.

I meant to end with, when I moved into my parent’s house, temporarily, when I was away, the dog snuck into the house and jumped into the bathtub with my twelve year old niece! She was not amused.

Great idea, the height of it seems just for Nana to use and for the dogs to be comfortable. Of our 8 dogs 5 will fit in the bath and the other three will easily fit in the walk in shower. Our biggest is my baby at 165 lbs of Pyrenean mountain dog, she's white as are 4 of the smallest. Then we've got 2 black and brown and 1 brown. We have a huge forest as our back garden so they tend to get dirty pretty quick. Your dogs look great and very adventurous and nosy. Great post, regards to the family. 🔨🔨🔨🔨🔨✔️

Hope you saved the piece of tub you cut off. Add a couple of hinges to one side and a latch on the other. Reattach to tub. That way dogs can’t try to run out

Awesome result Jay. More enjoyable to use for both the dogs and you guys.

I’m with a lot of the comments regarding the cut edges. I think I’d sandwich the edges with pvc trim like Azek. Then I buy a small can of truck bed liner and apply it to the inside to seal the Azek and the metal. Not to mention it’ll give them a better grip. I think the pool noodles would get funky fast.

As a dad of 8 furry kids I have to agree, keeping our adventurous doggies clean is not always easy, but that set up is awesome ✔️

And here I am, just throw mine in the bath then have to clean up the mess of the bathroom 🤦. Great job. I didn't see, but is the water draining somewhere other than onto the deck?

No. Just on the deck and then through the cracks.

Maybe use the left over part from the tub to make a door out of it. Then they couldn't walk out🤔

Clipping them in with the built in lead works great. They don't go anywhere. This project has been a game changer especially with wi ter coming. 👍

Jerry not for nothing but I had a cousin on my wife had a cousin I should say used to take cold showers all the time and then one day they went to wake him up to go to work and he was dead because of the coldness in his body, your body supposed to be a certain temperature all the time if you’re cold you’re supposed to go inside and get warm. This is what happened to him I don’t hope it never happens to you but be very careful taking a cold, cold shower if you’re gonna do that you should have yourself a steam room first and then take a shower, cold shower and then go back in the steam room and then come out and take a regular shower and then get dressed. That’s how you actually do it, you don’t wanna hurt your heart you’re hot it will get a shock real quick when you jump into cold icy water. I’m just giving you a heads up. This is Alan from Massachusetts.

I have wanted to build one of these for a long time. Good job. Do you live with your in-laws? Those dogs are so lucky to have a creek to play in anytime they desire.

Grab a short length of garden hose and cut a slit down the side. Lexel that hose over the sharp edges. Pool noodles will look like garbage.

Pro tip!

Some friends of the family put a regular shower pan in the mudroom at a comfortable height and hooked it up to the water system in the house. The building inspector was totally confused...took him a while to grasp the concept of a dog shower....

I love it, damn cool idea and well done. Really great.

Awesome video man, next time you do a dog bath can you do a full bath dog video of them being all lather up and dripping with soap lol while the soap suds are running down your forearms while the dogs are dripping with soap lol
