I'm doing this exact same thing with a 9.5ft slab of ash that I won in a raffle. Thing is massive and heavy, and my wife told me she wants it for a headboard. Thanks for the video. I was stumped on how to mount it. This just gave me a tiny bit more confidence.
Great looking headboard Brent.

Thanks so much Muir. Always appreciate your support.
A piece like that would look so amazing in an industrial modern style room. Textured concrete walls and surrounding leafy plants would complement that very nicely

I LOVE your vision Ron and that would for sure be my ideal landing spot as well. next time :) Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the video.
I would also add that sanding with 220 grit in between layers of finish is a pretty good idea
So.....that is what that huge piece of slab was for!!! Great job!!!

This project is incredible! Very clever using French cleats. I need a headboard for my bed, and this has given me an incentive to get to work. Thank you so much!

Sheesh this is stunning 💥
Looks awesome Brent. French cleats are almost a given since you’re attaching a wood slab to wood studs. And very strong. I look forward to next week’s episode!

I love this. All of a sudden unfinished raw edge aka live edge is all the rage. Wish pieces weren’t so expensive.

Great minds think alike Steven. Expect that in next week's video. Thanks so much for watching.
Thanks so much for your video! It's actually the perfect video for me because I have a walnut slab headboard that i need to mount with no visible fasteners... plus the finish + epoxy you use I might try myself. I've never used epoxy but I'm excited to give it a go!

This is such a creative idea. I also like the french cleat design for hanging the headboard. Will the addition 2 nightstands help to make up the 9 foot span of headboard? I can't imagine a mattress 9 ft.wide.

And a sneak peak is that it’s going to be a platform bed which will take up some of the side room :)
Thanks, I might do something similar myself 👍

Haha ya Grant I had this one on the to do list for a while and it finally happened. Thanks for watching
I’m about to do the same project in my bedroom. I was going to use French cleats also. I don’t think I’d ever have to worry about it but I still do. Have you any issues with it falling off or anything like that. I feel like something like an earthquake would be needed to knocked it off the wall. But as you mentioned it I don’t want a huge board falling on me.
Could you make an video how to pressure wash your driveway or backyard?
I wonder if this can also be put on the legs and attached to the bed itself, not to the wall?
Just freakin awesome! Great job! What's the name of your outro song?

Good morning from the Philippines Brent. Looks beautiful, what would someone expect to pay for a slab like that?
@BYOTools
3 жыл бұрын
Great to hear Carlito and thanks so much for all the support. The slab was over $1,000 but since you are in the Philippines hopefully you can get a slab much cheaper then that :)
Where do the handcuffs go now? Nice vid!

We will address that in next week's video......LOL JK! Thanks for much for for watching and hope you enjoyed the video.
My bedroom wall is a bit wavy, and have found it to be a little tricky using french cleats when hanging things even shorter in length. Do you have any advice for how to account for that? I suppose shimming the wall rail is probably the only/best solution, huh?

Roughly how wide is your slab?
This is gorgeous! What was the cost of the slab? Must be hella expensive 😂 Amazing job and video as always!

@@BYOTools Love your videos, but I'm Norwegian, so litterally 90% of furnature made during WW2 was solid wood. No import and A LOT of forest.... You know the old saying "One man's trash is another man's treasure"
Ok.. so I brought my own tools, but I'm an internationally acclaimed hand model and the company that has insured my profitable paws forbids me from engaging in manual labor. I have three ex-wives that I owe alimony to so I can't risk it. cool vid tho
