I've Done This Method Before But Now I Still Use Either A Set Of 4x4 Or 6x6 Posts And Pieces Of 2x6 Boards An Make A Complete Square And X Bracing Support, On Each Bottom Of The Post, So It Can't Tip Over In Any Direction, Plus It Makes A Portable Way For Setting Up A Hammock Most Anywhere

I learned that concrete trick from my fence guys. Throw dry concrete in the hole and pack it down, then a pitcher of water. The concrete pulls moisture from the ground and will cure.

How far did you put the 4 x 4's from each other. And how long are the 4 x 4's 8 feet 10 or 12? Thanks

I wish this tutorial gave measurements - how to space the posts. How high to place the hardware

I believe the posts are 6ft apart. You may need to adjust depending on the hammock you are planning to use. I mounted the hardware approximately 6" down from the top of the post. Good luck!!

TheRandyMan I hung my hammocks yesterday. According to Pawleys Island, you need to add 1 ft to the length of the hammock. So for a standard 12 ft, the length should be 13ft between posts. The hardware should be posted 4ft to 4ft 6ins off the ground. This worked out perfectly for me. Measuring from the ground up is better since posts heights will vary depending on how deep in the ground you bury a standard post. Thanks for the response.

I bought “Hammock Hooks” from Home Depot, just what you want, very heavy steel but they were only sold in a box of six. Otherwise look for lag bolts/eye screw hooks
