Every year we do a huge Halloween haunt set up in our yard. We have a big fenced in graveyard, lots of ghosts and skeletons, and a lot of other DIY Halloween props that we’ve made throughout the years. One of the simplest things we've made is this cheap and easy fence that wraps around our yard. It's made from simple pine that we got at the big box store and only costs about $3 per section. Each year we build a couple more and expand it a little further.
These are SUPER SIMPLE to make and a lot of fun!
We’re new to making videos so we’d love to hear your feedback! Please leave us a comment below and let us know what you think of the build! Want to see us make something? Let us know below!
MATERIALS:
• 1" x 2" Pine Strips
• 0.25" x 2" Pine Lattice Strips (Optional)

Quick tip: You can get those lattice strips for free from Home Depot. They use them to separate stacks of lumber & discard them underneath each bay in the aisle. I got all of my strips from there & it cost me nothing. In fact, I asked one of the HD workers if he would save them for me instead of throwing them out & he did. Got enough in one trip. 😃
Just finished making 20 of these! Staining was my nemesis in all of this! $120 worth of supplies later, but they're all done and look great!
This is so smart!! Every year people try to go through the graveyard and we don't want them to brake anything or trip over an extension cord, thanks so much for the idea

Nicely done! I love the homemade graveyards more than the store bought ones. Yours is one of the better executed (pun intended) that I have seen... We have our own cemetery that has evolved over the years . Last year We added an entrance and a path so people can walk through the cemetery. Great fun!!
the most simple way and it looked soo amazing will need to do it for this year!
Great stuff guys. Giving me lots of ideas for next year Halloween. Keep up the good work.

Catching up on older videos. I have to say, your progression has been insane. I truly enjoy your videos; not just for the instructional content, but because of both of you. You both have grown so much. In 4(ish) years, you guys have really come into your own on here. Thanks so much for taking time filming, editing and presenting to the rest of us fellow Halloween addicts great content. It's good info and enjoyable to watch. Don't stop. :)

@@WickedMakers I would think that y’all do a lot of DIY stuff. Do you make Xmas decor, cute knickknacks around the house or yard, or refinish furniture? It would be awesome to see a video on how you store everything. I see a lot of videos on how to make stuff, but hardly any on how to store it. Storage has been one of my biggest headaches & I need to improve my situation. I’m running out of space, especially since I got the 12ft skeleton & made this fence. Ha.😬🤷🏻♀️
More Halloween projects please! These are super cool!

Only change I would make is to hammer rebar stakes into the ground first, then secure the fence ends to the stakes. That will keep all of the wood above ground prolonging its life and also making it far more secure and less likely to blow or be knocked over.
In the midst of making this now! Great video thanks.

Thanks for this video. I love making my own Halloween props and decorations. But I lot of sites I have visited only show their finished product, not the instructions, which is pretty useless. I have subscribed to your channel after seeing only this video, I hope your vids will help me make the best Halloween display ever. I will be watching your other videos today. If you don't have the ones I am looking for, would you be up to making videos by request? I look forward to seeing what you have shared. Thanks again.
I need to make about 70 feet of fence and this will be a quick and easy way to do it. I think I will use a Weather beach gray on the wood to give it that old silvery wood look.

This might be good as a secondary fence in the background but I have too much respect for the haunt to use this as the main fence. I just finished the wood/ pvc version with columns and it looks awesome. I’d spend a few hundred extra since I know I’ll be using them for years and know that it’s going to be the main feature of the cemetery.
What size nails? Any suggestions for hammer and nails? Definitely doing this!!
@WickedMakers
3 жыл бұрын
Just make sure they’re short enough not to poke through the other side. If both pieces are 3/4” then 1 1/4” nails work.
Hello this is awesome i have a question or two i went on lowes site one pine board stake 1 x 2 x 8 was $3.70 is that correct? Unless u find cheaper a link would be great! Second the one u did in the video how wide and tall was one peice? Awesome Job 👍
@WickedMakers

The lumber prices will all be different based on where you live but that doesn’t sound too far off. I think we paid like $2 a piece maybe?
Did you dye the color of the web? I can only find white

I know this is an old video, so not sure I'll get an answer, but asking anyway. How do you get the thinner boards to stick? I don't know if I just have hard ground or what, but when I hammer the posts into the ground, it popped the glue and staples I had holding most of the slats to the frame.

It really helps to make a small hole first. We’ve occasionally had the same problem of the ground was particularly hard in that one spot.

Do you stain the cobweb material?

For this one, we just bought cobwebs that were kind of greenish brown, but you could definitely stain the cobwebs with black tea, wood stain, paint, etc. and it would probably be fine.
