Thanks a lot! I was fairly certain I knew how to do it, but I’m glad I watched this. I learned a couple of important steps. I’m grateful!

Great to hear!
When I burn the clear, I put reducer in the clear. So the clear on the edges melts in and I like to sand it with 1500 grit sand paper. Buff the panel, for a better result. I mask the bumper does not matter how small the spot job is.

Hey I used that UPOL blend #9 on the sail panel of my 1970 Charger RT as I did some body repair and then blend job on the upper sail panel of the car. I used some of this video as inspiration and partial guide when completing my repair. I had never done a blend job before but It worked out really nice! Thanks!

Great video Chris with some really helpful advice for us DIY painters, this type of repair won't last as long as a bumper off and a full repaint but they are a good alternative and as you said it will last a good while👏👍John UK

Do u have any vids on painting rims?
Great video Chris!. Thanks. Question regarding the settings. What is general rule of adjusting these small touchup guns? What pressure should we keep for base and clear ? 20-30 or 10-15 ? How much fluid ? 1-2 turns out ? What typical distance -? Thanks 😊

Seriously I realy couldn't tell you. I go by the sound and I apologize I should have put it in the video. I will say for this touch up as low as you can get the psi and still get good paint atomization. I'll revisit this in another video. Appreciate your question.

@@GarageNoise thank you!). Since i am kinda new and just learning your video helping understand more how to fix issues i am running into during a painting. Lol i put on my touch up gun 30, then 25, then 20. After 5th time start using around 15. (Touchup gun from HF, silver one. Looks like a normal hvlp just smaller ) , next time will try 10 🤷🏻♂️ . Also, i noticed all my touchup guns (2from HF) and One R100 dont open wide fan. (Small but wide). They are more like from rattle can

How much time do you wait to spray on the blende and also time for polishing ? Steve
Do I need to use the blend if I’m polishing ?
I’ve used the Spray Max Glamour 2K clear in a pinch a few times. You can swipe nozzles off of lots of other spray cans and see what works for a different spray pattern. I’ve found some narrow “bird shot”, and I’ve found the wide “shotgun spray” and that is key. But that Spray Max has serious longevity. I did my drivers side quarter panel, and it has withstood the gas spill test, sunshine test, the lot. Passes with flying colors. And it is hard. Not an easy scratch. The only problem is that while it last out glossy as can be and you can watch it melt into the previous stoke or coat, when it dries it’s gonna have some orange peel. Just spray several coats. I keep one of those infrared heaters about two feet away from the panel just as it’s finishing flashing off. Also a key factor. It also helps reduce orange peel. But it cuts out fine. For what it is, it’s incredible. You just can’t really prevent the orange peel.
What you gonna do if the edges wrinkle up on ya 🤔 nice Chris👍

Sorry may be a silly question, is hobby airbrush possible to be used on this spot repair? What make me think using airbrush is hobby airbrush will spray more fine and suitable this area?
@GarageNoise

Yes, that will work great. I find it's almost to fine for a spot this big but on small scatches they work great.
Wow nice thanks cris

What makes Finish 1 710 and 720. 710 being spot panel and 720 overall different? Can you use them interchangeably?
@GarageNoise
8 ай бұрын
From my experience the overall is a bit slower drying which makes sense since it's for an overall paint job. I wouldn't use them together unless you speak with a SW paint rep they my have more detailed information.

Sand smooth with 600, base coat until covered, then 2 coats of clear 10-15 minutes between coats.

So basically to make it look proper, full coat of clear ? Where does blend spray really come to proper uses ?
@GarageNoise
9 ай бұрын
Short answer is never, it's not really the proper way to do it. The only time I might do it is down low on a rocker panel.
Are you trying to limit the new clear to just the area that you hit with 2000 grit? I assume you don’t want to hit any area you did not sand right?
@GarageNoise
7 ай бұрын
Absolutely, yes
This is awesome as shit. I'm about to do this on my beater car so it doesn't look like ass but also doesn't cost me a mint.
Good video Chris. I might be answering my own question here. I have an 29 year old Toy Truck and the paint/clear has deteriorated on the roof and hood. I want to paint both panels for now to clean up the truck. On the roof the paint is rough in a 12" patch but ok going down the sides. It seems I can use this blend technique with 2000 grit then polish with the existing paint that is in decent shape. Is this correct? Thanks
@GarageNoise
10 ай бұрын
I really think on a roof you'd be better off paint and blending the spot but clearing the roof completely. It wouldn't make sense to blend like this. I not really that much more work or materials and then it would last and look better than a blend.

@@GarageNoise Thank you for the advise!! Have a nice weekend.
That bumper needed a full respray but guess the owner only wanted to pay so much.i can understand that it was the daily drive car seen many miles on the road.Im sure if it was a new car hole bumper would have been done still a good job for what u needed to do in the end will only last so long.Great clip.
