    When I burn the clear, I put reducer in the clear. So the clear on the edges melts in and I like to sand it with 1500 grit sand paper. Buff the panel, for a better result. I mask the bumper does not matter how small the spot job is.

    I’ve used the Spray Max Glamour 2K clear in a pinch a few times. You can swipe nozzles off of lots of other spray cans and see what works for a different spray pattern. I’ve found some narrow “bird shot”, and I’ve found the wide “shotgun spray” and that is key. But that Spray Max has serious longevity. I did my drivers side quarter panel, and it has withstood the gas spill test, sunshine test, the lot. Passes with flying colors. And it is hard. Not an easy scratch. The only problem is that while it last out glossy as can be and you can watch it melt into the previous stoke or coat, when it dries it’s gonna have some orange peel. Just spray several coats. I keep one of those infrared heaters about two feet away from the panel just as it’s finishing flashing off. Also a key factor. It also helps reduce orange peel. But it cuts out fine. For what it is, it’s incredible. You just can’t really prevent the orange peel.

  • @GarageNoise

    Good video Chris. I might be answering my own question here. I have an 29 year old Toy Truck and the paint/clear has deteriorated on the roof and hood. I want to paint both panels for now to clean up the truck. On the roof the paint is rough in a 12" patch but ok going down the sides. It seems I can use this blend technique with 2000 grit then polish with the existing paint that is in decent shape. Is this correct? Thanks

  • @GarageNoise

    @GarageNoise

    10 ай бұрын

    I really think on a roof you'd be better off paint and blending the spot but clearing the roof completely. It wouldn't make sense to blend like this. I not really that much more work or materials and then it would last and look better than a blend.
